In 12 weeks, we built a research facility that is run entirely by AI.
AI designs, executes, and observes experiments end-to-end across biology, chemistry, and materials science.
We’re introducing SciUniverse: a benchmark that measures AI’s ability to do real-world scientific research.

We have all these videos at our fingertips today, but back in the day we had to be on our game to view the videos when they aired on MTV. Was like a mini-cinematic event.

I couldn't wait until Friday night to watch Headbangers Ball, so I could watch the video to One. Epic song!

Doctronic was in the @WSJ again. @annawmathews wrote a great piece, if a touch negative, but that comes with the territory when you're doing something new. Skepticism doesn't bother me. We all need to be skeptical about AI in medicine.
One line that did stick with me: "Humans have to go to medical school, pass licensing exams, and go through residency to be doctors. We have nothing like that for AI at all."
I'd gently push back, because that's exactly what @Doctronic is doing in sandboxes like the Utah AI Learning Lab.
Residency is supervised practice: narrow scope, every decision reviewed before it reaches a patient. It's how we've trusted new clinicians for a century, they earn autonomy by demonstrating it under watch.
That's exactly what's happening now with @Doctronic in Utah. Our AI isn't practicing on its own. It's in residency, with every call checked in real time by our clinicians, learning under their supervision the same way a new doctor does.
And Utah isn't the only state building these proving grounds. This model is spreading because it works (see the Utah published data). Residency is the right standard. We're holding our AI to it.

Fred Wilson is one of the greatest VCs of all time. He is also my new partner at @USV and I'm lucky to say that. We've known each other for years, but becoming partners felt like a reason to get to know him even better.
So a few weeks ago, we walked around Union Square and caught up about what @fredwilson has learned over nearly 40 years of VC, how AI may be making the profession obsolete, how to build an investment thesis, why he believes the Knicks will win the NBA title this year, and a few of his long held grudges.
Here's a video of that conversation, set at Union Square, Madman Espresso, the USV office, and Leon's on Broadway.
