Mass Effect was my ultimate white whale, my all-time dream project. For the last couple years I'd been in discussion w/ BioWare & EA to take on the project & as part of that I wrote close to 20 minutes of music to explore where the franchise can go next, may as well share it!
Videogame music is one of the most important kinds of music in the modern world.
It gives rise to new voices, and more importantly, it has the power to make entire generations fall in love with a wide variety of musical genres and cultures from around the world.
Composers such as @UematsuNobuo are the proof of how deep of an impact game music can have on the world.
I lost count of how many people I met who told me they became musicians or composers because of Final Fantasy... and Uematsu-san is completely aware of this fact.
So much so that, to this day, his mission with his work is to spread the passion for music to people of all ages, across the whole world, simply because he believes giving people a reason to smile is always a worthy endeavor.
Recently he released a brand new album with the London Symphony Orchestra in service of that same goal, and today he just submitted that album for Grammy consideration.
All I'm going to say is, if there's a category of musicians composers who deserve to be taken in consideration more by the Grammys, it's composers who come from the game world and who bring a freshness and open-mindedness to the world of music like very few do.
And among those formidable people, if there's one who deserves it more than anyone else, to me, that's Nobuo Uematsu.
I may be a little biased. But the impact and echo of his music across decades and generations speaks for itself.
Good luck, Uematsu-san!
Merregnon: Heart of Ice has been submitted for GRAMMY® consideration in the Best Orchestral Performance category, and I am truly delighted. The London Symphony Orchestra brought out so much in the music, and I couldn't be happier with how the recording turned out!
Nobuo Uematsu was cooking when he wrote Cid’s Theme for FFVII.
Sounds beautiful with a live orchestra!
In case you’ve been missing my videogame music analysis videos… Well, truth be told I miss them too, and most of all, I miss celebrating great game music with you all!
Which I’m so happy to share this new video with you:
one where I yap about the music of Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn for THREE hours alongside the amazing folks at @resonantarc .
We talk a lot about stories from the FFXIV music team, as well as discuss many of the iconic pieces of music from ARR + some deep cuts too!
If you’re a fan of my FFXIV music analysis videos, you’re gonna hear me talk about plenty of things I simply didn’t have the space to discuss in those.
You can watch the episode here:

AI Companies CEOs:
"Making music isn't fun..."
Meanwhile, more musicians than ever worldwide are having the time of their lives messing around with wild musical ideas nobody asked for. Why?
Maybe 'cause it is, you know, actually fun.
You can hear a brand new piece of music in the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer, and I can tell you without shadow of a doubt that it was written by one of the composers who contributed the most to the FF7R series soundtrack.
I'd recognize that style anywhere, and I feel like he doesn't get shouted out enough: I'm talking about mr. @shotaro_shima !

Really, can't thank the folks at @Street_Fighter and @CapcomUSA_ more for making this happen. We we're just kids pumping quarters into a machine cause we loved it. 30+ years later, on a film set because of it. Can't wait to see the full movie. ❤️
I can't stop thinking about FFXIV Evercold's Trailer Theme song, but it's for a reason no one would expect.
Would love to make a video about it if I find some free time!

What an incredible night in London for Persona Grooves! 🔥
We were joined by Shoji Meguro, the legendary composer behind the Persona series. Between the music, panels, cosplayers, and standing ovations, the atmosphere was unforgettable.
Thank you for making this possible! #P30th
Fans of NieR, Kingdom Hearts & Final Fantasy VII music:
I'm glad to announce there will be a symphonic concert featuring bold new arrangements of the iconic music from those games in Europe.
I'll have the pleasure of hosting the show, and I hope to see you there!
📅 26 September 2026
📍 Liederhalle, Stuttgart
🎟️ stuttgarter-philharmoniker.d…
This concert is produced by the same mind behind the Final Symphony concert series, @vgmconcerts !
I highly recommend to check out the Final Symphony albums if you're curious to get an idea of what this will sound like, though those are different symphonies from the Stuttgart show.
The Final Fantasy X symphonic poem from Final Symphony in particular I think is my favorite and the one I'd recommend checking out!

With Persona's composer & personal hero of mine: Shoji Meguro !!
Last week, I got to share one of the most unforgettable evenings of my life on stage with Meguro-san:
It was the very first Persona 3, 4 & 5 live concert to ever take place in Europe.
Persona fans traveled from all over to be there, and the second Meguro-san stepped onto that stage, the whole hall gave him a standing ovation. You could feel the years of love pouring out of the crowd and going straight to him! It gave me chills.
I had the honor of hosting the show, cracking Persona jokes, and I even got to play some live bass!
But the real magic?
Meguro-san performed too, totally slaying with some guitar solos and awesome riffs on song after song.
Watching the man behind the music I've loved for years play it live is something I'll never forget.
One other reason why this concert hit different, is that the organizers chose to build it like a Persona fusion IRL.
We had a Big Band Jazz ensemble and two solo singers from Poland. A British orchestra on strings. An African choir on backing vocals. An Afro-Italian host. And Meguro-san, composer of every note, straight from Japan.
The chemistry on that stage was unlike anything I've ever witnessed. By weaving together all these different groups of musicians, the team at @GameMusicFestiv created something so much greater than the sum of its parts, one of the most unique videogame concerts I've ever been part of.
As someone who has loved this series for so long, getting to spend a couple of days with Meguro-san, playing a small bit in his concert, and even doing a game music masterclass together, honestly felt like living inside a dream.... But my favorite part of the whole thing was the Persona fans who showed up.
I've been to so many game music concerts, and while those fans are always hyped, the love radiating from the Persona crowd was on a completely different level.
I spent time with the crew backstage during parts of the show, and even they felt it. We ended up dancing together to the music, and they kept turning to me, wide-eyed, asking how music from a videogame could possibly be this good.
I felt so proud of the Persona fandom that night, for being some of the best ambassadors game music could ever ask for.
And the absolute best ambassadors among these fans were the organizers of this whole thing.
They're called the Game Music Foundation, and they're a small group of friends and gamers from Poland who, just like any of us, spent way too much time playing Persona and fell in love with its world and its music.
They've done multiple sold-out game concerts in prestigious halls before based on different games, but one of their absolute dreams was always to organize a Persona concert together with Meguro-san, having him play on stage.
You can say they achieved that dream with Colors Flying High.
I'm so proud of them, and always looking forward to seeing what concerts they'll organize next.
To all of the people in the audience who came far and wide to party with us, thank you kindly!
And to Meguro-san ( @s_megarock ), thank you for creating so much incredible music, and for coming all the way to Europe to celebrate it with us!!

Spent two days with Hitoshi Sakimoto!
An orchestral concert in London, a game music masterclass together, and a lot of conversation in between.
His music from Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story & 13 Sentinels already meant everything to me...
Turns out the person behind it is just as extraordinary.
Beautiful music from a beautiful soul. 🙏🏾
The concert in question was an event I don't think I'll forget anytime soon.
It was a celebration of Sakimoto-san's 40th year musical career, organized by @GameMusicFestiv , they truly made it such a special day for the occasion.
The concert featured orchestral music arrangements of a wide array pieces, arranged by @choiby & Aruto Matsumoto!
Vagrant Story was the encore, and when it kicked in, so many people in the audience pretty much lost their minds.
So many of the people who grew up with Sakimoto-san's music spent years dreaming of someday getting to hear his pieces performed live.
Getting to be there, and getting to be the presenter for the show itself, was truly such a special experience
A group of indie dev friends are making a game that's a mashup of Overcooked & Plants vs Zombies, with:
- Chaotic co-op gameplay up to 4 players
- Fun crafting mechanics
- Some music by me
It's called Friendship vs The World, and you can play its demo on Steam right now!
Honorable mention: @PokariBass who co-produced the music theme in this clip with me!
