Alex Popovic

I have had a pretty interesting life, and I'd like to share some of it with all of you who have taken an interest in what I do. So hello! My name is Alex, I'm a veteran, volunteer, husband, foster parent, business owner, project founder, tiny house dweller (sadly no longer) and a mediocre cellist. Most of my family lives on the other side of the planet and so I have travelled a great deal, experienced a number of cultures, and learned a tremendous amount doing so. My parents have also lead incredible lives (both are Yale PhDs) and I feel extraordinarily lucky to have been raised by the two of them, and I have learned more because of their efforts than any school I ever attended. Until very recently - I was working to prepare myself for a life in government - I wanted to run for office eventually working my way to the US Senate. Classes I took, my degree, the plan for a career in Federal law enforcement after active duty military service - that was my plan. I enlisted in the US Coast Guard after receiving my undergraduate degree - and I managed to work in all of the areas that the USCG has to offer. Maritime law enforcement (counter drug in the Caribbean), navigation (on the Great Lakes), and aviation (search and rescue). I've seen a lot, done a lot, contributed to millions of dollars of drugs being seized, dozens of lives saved, thousands of maintenance hours on the MH-65D helicopter, thousands of miles sailed and thousands of navigational aids serviced. (buoys, lighthouses, etc). From an early age I also had an interest in technology. My father has worked in the computer science world for my entire life and survived the .com bubble and y2k running a software startup - which is still alive today. I never had a true purpose for myself in that world until I discovered blockchain. Purely because of my fascination with the technology I began learning all I could about blockchain, and this lead me to discover the movement and idea that is "web3" - beyond the marketing term. I began creating content on TikTok in 2021 and grew an amazing following of around 30,000 people. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to do that. Recently I have begun to speak more openly about my feelings of disenfranchisement within the "web3" space because of the pervasive nature of ponzi/pyramid nonsense tainting the industry and keeping the masses from exploring this awesome space. That's all fine - I know that the technology matters and I know that it's important. I've been lucky enough to find an incredible team of people who together with myself, make up @Faceless_Labs and have built some epic stuff together, fostering the growth of a community thousands strong. I believe we are destined for great things, and I believe that so strongly that I left my career as an A&P flight mechanic and abandoned my ambitions for a career holding public office. This has gone on long enough and massive props to anyone who actually reads all this nonsense - I truly appreciate you. Hey hi good morning friends - icymi I run a live crypto and tech and finance show that reaches literally millions of actual humans every month over @RUMSHQ. The people in our audience are the most curious, interested, and engaged part of the "masses" we're all "trying to onboard" but also ignoring. I can confidently say that if you want to make your case to a super dialed in audience, it would be reeeeeal hard to beat Rise Up as a platform. I think you would also be horrified at which projects and tokens are actually on the "front page of the internet" that mass retail sees and hears about - regardless of how divorced from actual value to holders any of them actually are in reality. For example, the average retail consumer thinks that @XRP is going to be the single asset that leads them to the promised land, and they have almost no idea what @HyperliquidX is or how the token captures the success of the platform. Just an anecdote, but one I encounter eeeeeeeevery single day with 0 exceptions.

If you're trying to onboard users in DeFi, or crypto in general, you need to be livestreaming on TikTok 100x more than you are on X spaces.

Crypto companies would rather pay for high and fast conversions that churn almost immediately than for a methodical slower onboarding of users that will actually retain.

I'm telling you guys the "masses" are actually there and they are SO interested in learning. When was the last time you made time to teach senior citizens about this new age of money? That's what I thought.
