I am thrilled to share that we raised an oversubscribed $82M Fund III to lead pre-seed and seed rounds in Vertical AI, Deep Tech, Healthcare and Biotech startups in NYC and Boston.
To be exact, we raised $82,048,000 - a number that felt on-brand for a nerdy firm like ours that loves riddles, the future, Morse code, and Easter eggs.
We are immensely grateful to our LPs for their ongoing belief in our strategy and approach. We are equally grateful to the founders who have chosen to partner with us.
Here is 2048 Ventures Ventures Fund III in a nutshell:
- We back exceptional, ultra-competitive, visionary founders.
- We lead pre-seed and seed rounds with $500K - $3M checks.
- We invest in Vertical AI, Deep Tech, Healthcare and Biotech.
- We invest primarily in NYC and Boston.
- We seek businesses with strong data moats.

I love how Yosemite’s has positioned their mission - to make cancer non-lethal.
Much more sober take than curing cancer once and for all which might just be biologically impossible.
The best news today is that power in America 🇺🇸 still belongs to people.
Trump and Republicans got exactly what they deserved for taking power and not serving the interests of the people.
Companies and services that make it really hard to delete your account / export your data are evil and will not be successful in the end.
Looking at you @webflow.
Good luck! My favorite and best of the best!
Two years after selling @flyAerodome to @flocksafety, I’m leaving it in good hands.
Thanks to Flock, drones provide air support for 911 calls around the country.
Next, I'm joining @a16z as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. There has never been a better time to build for America 🧵
How is this news? This has been going for a while…
The collapse of Reddit will be studied.
After reporting earnings, its stock collapsed 30% in a single day.
It's down 44% in 2 weeks.
But the most important detail is what was revealed in that earnings call.
The CEO said AI is killing Google search.
People no longer get sent to Reddit from Google. They merely get their answers from the AI Mode itself.
Even Google confirmed this themselves with their disastrous results - AI mode is cannibalising their search business.
Pretty soon, no one will visit Reddit voluntarily. Its traffic will continue to crater.
The worst part?
Reddit isn't alone. There are millions of companies and publishers that rely on search traffic.
That's what happens when you rely on a single funnel for discovery.

Nomic and Parse Build a Multimodal, Time-Resolved Dataset for AI Models of Immune Response

😂 wut?
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
“a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”
Big day for @Caravel Bio: a $1.2M NSF Phase II grant and a new CTO in @Michał Jastrzębski. The team behind biology’s data engine keeps getting stronger.
I keep catching myself on some calls thinking it just sounds too good to be true, how can things be so easy.
Like:
Last week we emailed VP at large org they immediately replied and we now have six figure contract.
This has to be b.s. right?
Things, enterprises can't move this fast.
At best it is a pilot. Like at the very best.
We kind of crossed the line on what used to be called lying to like overstating.
And it seems like this is popular archetype with investors.
The real predicament in the age of AI isn't that software is a race to the bottom or that you aren't AI-native enough, but whether your companyhas enough talent to win.
Rewire your org to be super talent focused is the hardest part and you can't compromise.
Talent only wants to work with other talent.
Your choice as a CEO to massively cut mediocre performers, and trim to 1/2 or 1/3 of the size and then hire talent with 2x or 3x pay and incentives.
If you had an internship at {somewhere hot}, and then put Prev {somewhere hot} as your linkedin headline you are doing linkedin wrong.

Ukraine was winning the war, so Trump kneecapped Ukraine to help Russia.
I wish it weren’t that simple, but it is. Our president is in bed with our enemies.
