From paternity leave that supports present dads, to boosting male role models in schools, there’s lots we can improve.
We’re determined to ensure Labour leads on this 👇
Thank you to all the fantastic volunteers who’ve been out raising money for @PoppyLegion across our towns and villages 🌹

From British willow to cricket grounds across India. 🏏
The UK-India trade deal will phase out tariffs on cricket bats over the next five years, creating new opportunities for UK bat makers and the farmers growing the British willow behind them.
Local Poundland workers deserve better.
I’m deeply concerned by reports that thousands of jobs are being put at risk by the American owners.
Sales are up, and viable bids have been made that would keep Poundland open and their workers in jobs.

Another reminder that we owe young men in Britain far better than the worst corners of the internet.
But our boys deserve more than just reactionary headlines.
They deserve investment in the education, support, and sense of purpose that they’re too often having to seek online.
Great to be out supporting @PoppyLegion’s Poppy Appeal at Morrisons this morning 🌹

Over 32,000 households across Hitchin will get £100 to help with their energy bills this winter ❄️
Global events exacerbated by our broken energy markets are pushing up costs for all of us. We can’t solve them overnight, but it’s vital we do what we can to support households.

Absolute garbage - this is a technical change that happens when public sector pension contributions change. There’s no impact on defence spending power & the Tories used the same mechanism in govt. What does matter for defence spending? The chancellor, who has increased it
Big row potentially brewing on defence…
Tories alleging that Healey - the man of principle who quit over DIP - might actually be *cutting* defence spending
In the next two financial years, the budget for the MOD will be £1bn a year less than Rachel Reeves planned when the DIP was published in June.
The total departmental spending can be calculated from the Budget Red Book pages 145-147. When compared to the DIP settlement, the Tories claim it shows that Labour are cutting £1bn a year from the MOD budget for the next two years.
Why? It appears that they are forecast to spend less than expected on pensions. Rather than the MOD being allowed to reuse this Resource Department Expenditure Limit, the Treasury has kept it

Breathing space for today. Fresh hope for the future. A budget that delivers for first-time buyers and backs council and social housebuilding.
