Anyone else seeing massive issues with @beehiiv the last couple months? We've seen 2 clear (stair step) declines in open rates. Taking us from 50%+ to < 20%. With an engaged segment. BeeHiiv told us they had a "smart warming defect" that caused this. But has been unable to resolve it for us. cc @denk_tweets

AI won't kill agencies. The "doing" of the work has been commoditized and cheap for years (ie overseas labor). Anyone could hire a cheap designer or dev. Just like they can use Claude or Codex now. The value is knowing WHAT to do in the first place.

A health brand client of ours has strict rules for their brand and product claims - across a huge catalog of products. Our team connected an MCP directly to their database of products and claims. Now every piece of copy or page design is automatically scanned to ensure compliance during design. And before we publish. How we delivery work product is changing on a daily basis.

Shopping is a form of pleasure for many. No matter how good agents get, my wife is always going to want to see and “experience” the outfit she is buying. Not outsource to an agent.
.@benthompson says consumer AI has a marketing problem because the average consumer doesn't actually want to be more productive. "Tech companies are like, 'Let us book your flight for you!' I’ve had a personal assistant for 10 years. He does not come within an inch of booking my flights for me. That is crazy talk." "I understand which ones are gonna be delayed. I know which seat I want to be on. So the fact that this is continually a demo is hilarious to me." “Number two: people love shopping. They don’t want to be productive. They want to be entertained. One of the biggest forms of entertainment is shopping.” "Also, there’s so much information on a product page. Companies have spent so much energy focusing on that. You look at apparel as a category. They’re going to tell you what size the model is wearing, and you want to know that, and you want to look at the different styles." "The idea of having a personal agent that’s going and getting some of the information and bringing it back to you, and then you’re like, 'Well, what about this other thing? Tell me about this thing.'" "And you have your eager tech company executive say, “Oh, I have an assistant that can do it for you!" "And it’s like, no. Not only do I want to do it, I want to complain about it. I’m enjoying myself complaining right now, okay? Would you just let me be and live my life?"

When it comes to design, Astra has crossed the chasm. It absolutely cooks Claude Design (using Fable).

Something I've been hearing from founders and feeling myself... the mental load from context switching with AI is real 10 agents/processes all running at once (even if autonomously) still requires human feedback. Who else is brain dead at the end of the day?

As a father of two young kids, I keep thinking about this from Dara: "I think we're doing our kids a disservice by giving them too much, being around too much. You want to love your kids, you want to know that they're absolutely loved and appreciated. But it's the challenges in life that form you, and it's the overcoming of these challenges that give humans a profound satisfaction. If you as a parent are overcoming these challenges for your kids, you're actually doing them a disservice long-term, whereas short-term you think you're doing them a favor. They've got to learn how to make it in this world themselves. A happy life is not necessarily an easy life."
My conversation with @dkhos, CEO of Uber. Dara took over in 2017, when Uber was losing roughly $4.5B a year. Today the company generates $10B in free cash flow and is worth about $150B. We discuss: - How Daniel Ek convinced him to take the job - How Uber spent a full year of its AI budget in a single quarter - Uber's approach to autonomous vehicles - Drones, hotels, and building a superapp - Lessons from Allen & Co, Barry Diller, and Reed Hastings Enjoy! A roadmap to 25%+ growth in 12 months: 1) 4 site A/B tests per month 2) Focused on the top 3 channels Over the last year, our brands following this strategy averaged a 34% HIGHER conversion rate than brands who did not.

The bigger the brand. The more data needed to make a decision. At $1M a 10% mistake is managable. At $30M, it's devastating.

Few things in life are certain. Except for a statistically significant A/B test with a 98% confidence interval. Don't leave your site updates up to chance.
