The 17 states who voted for the illegal blockade to starve Cuba are an extraordinary list of scumbag regimes. Headed of course by US, Israel and Ukraine.
NOW: World majority demands an end to the U.S. blockade on Cuba for the 34th time, in annual UN vote. Vote board:

🚨 The NYPD has backed away from a $750,000 no-bid contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte after New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani faced backlash over the deal, the New York Daily News reported. The department confirmed it is restarting the procurement process and will accept competing bids for the technology, a cell-site simulator that mimics a cell tower to locate and track phones. The three-year deal was for Cognyte's FalcoNet, an AI-driven tracker that can be mounted on police cars and drones or hidden in a backpack. Mamdani's office had said it was "reviewing the proposed contract." The move reopens the contract to other bidders but doesn't drop the technology itself. Full story linked in reply.
⚡️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani's NYPD is poised to sign a three-year, $750,500 no-bid contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte for FalcoNet, an AI-driven device that mimics a cell tower to track phones and can be mounted on police cars and drones or hidden in a backpack, the New York Daily News reported. Cognyte won a tender to sell intercept spyware to Myanmar's state telecom weeks before the 2021 military coup, Reuters previously reported. Meta banned the firm the same year, saying its customers used fake accounts to target journalists and politicians in Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia. The firm is part of an Israeli surveillance industry that grew big as a result of the military's monitoring of Palestinians, whose phone calls Israel's Unit 8200 has intercepted and stored by the millions, including to carry out genocide in Gaza and enforce a brutal illegal occupation in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Corporate greed is Microsoft making $134 billion in profits last year, receiving $19 billion in tax breaks under Trump, paying a lower federal income tax rate than a nurse and getting rid of 60,000 workers. “Corporations will create jobs if they get tax breaks” is a total scam.

56% of Israeli Jews want to expel all two million Palestinian citizens of Israel. And 82% of Israeli Jews want to expel all Palestinians in Gaza to other countries. Imagine if @BBCNews, and the rest of the UK 'mainstream' media, reported the ugly reality of Israeli society.
Israeli journalist: "You are both first time voters. What are you voting based on?" Israeli voter 1: "I don't want there to be Arabs in the county." Israel voter 2: "Me neither." Background: 56% of Israeli Jews want to expel all 2M Palestinian citizens of Israel, and 82% of Israeli Jews want to expel all Palestinains in Gaza to other countries. haaretz.com/israel-news/2025… Turns out, for some voters, it is the only issue they care about: creating an Palestinianrein Israel the same way the Nazis created a Judenrein Germany. source: instagram.com/reels/DfAdZBDB…

Wellthis aged well. Leave aside the complete misreading of the result from someone posting this morning- not last night- the wilful mischaracterisation of the political realities is shocking if not surprising. I say not surprising because I once had the experience of @EmilyThornberry berating me in her office for talking about "Israel". She was insistent ... the Problem is this particular Government... this was many Governments ago. She is seeking to sustain the liberal zionist myth of a progressive body of opinion in Israel, reflected in opposition parties who oppose the oppression of Palestinians and will act to end it. It means she wilfully ignores the fact that every one of the Zionist parties support the genocide in Gaza, support the occupation and would never allow a Palestinian state. She ignores what creates this reality- the support for these policies across the Israeli public - 82% believe every Palestinian should be ethnically cleansed from Gaza and 56% support the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian citizens of Israel. Maybe Emily doesn't think these views are " cruel, dystopic and authoritarian". If she did she'd had to accept the problem is Israel as an apartheid state enacting a genocide supported by its people , not Netanyahu. And if she accepted that she might have to support comprehensive sanctions and we can't have that can we?
Israeli Exit Polls show Netanyahu's been defeated. Israel has rejected his dark vision, forever war & cruel, dystopic, authoritarian policies. But to succeed, the anti Netanyahu block needs to work with the Israeli Arab parties. I dearly hope this great chance isn't wasted
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Exit polls showed neither Netanyahu's bloc nor the opposition reaching the 61 seats needed for a majority, resulting in a deadlock rather than a clear defeat. timesofisrael.com/exit-polls-sho… timesofisrael.com/eisenkot-and-n… afp.com/en/israel-oppo… theguardian.com/world/live/202…

Not a single news outlet has reviewed its coverage of Jason Arday, for accuracy or proportionality. Zero attempt has been made to conduct any inquiry into the media’s role in his death. Instead, the industry has moved into self-congratulatory mode. This isn’t just tone deaf, it betrays a systemic failure

Yes Mr Blair: Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere need an end to genocide, Israel's militarised colonisation and apartheid. They need respect for Intl Law and justice. They also need no more advice from those who have profited from their misery for too long. Be kind. Step aside
“There is talk of ‘Free Palestine’, but for Palestinians living in Gaza, they don’t need a slogan; they need a solution,” said former UK Prime Minister and founding member of US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, Tony Blair.

Ok, so this is completely wrong from @TiceRichard . Making up obvious falsehoods about journalists is truly appalling. @declassifiedUK has broken a number of stories alleging UK complicity in the Gaza genocide. That’s not “antisemitic” that’s simply reporting you don’t like.

It is a shocking indictment of the state of our Parliament that just over 10% of MPs have signed this letter calling for sanctions on Israel for blocking lifesaving aid for the people in Gaza. We deserve better
Proud to be one of the 75 MPs that signed this letter from @amcarmichaelMP calling for further sanctions on Israel for blocking aid to Palestinians in Gaza

A message to those who still believe that it all started on October 7. No, it didn't. A 'managed genocide', to keep 1.5 million Palestinians "on the edge of life" was in force years before. Read the latest report by Eyal Weizman: "A military document called ‘Red Lines’ set the minimum number of calories required to sustain Gaza’s population at a level just above the UN definition of hunger (2100 calories a day for men, 1700 for women and a varying amount for children depending on gender and age). The total number of calories was translated into the tonnage required to feed Gaza’s then population of 1.5 million and thus the number of aid trucks allowed into the territory. The same went for megawatts of electricity and litres of fuel and water. What was seen as good behaviour was rewarded by an increase in the amounts coming in, any acts of resistance by the tightening of the siege, like a population-scale version of a Milgram experiment." lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v48/n20/…

Netanyahu and his allies have beaten the opposition in the Jewish Israeli vote. That's despite: - Presiding over October 7th - Netanyahu being on trial on charges of bribery and fraud - A cost of living and housing crisis - Attacks on the judiciary - Outrage over shielding ultra-Orthodox Jews from conscription - The Qatargate scandal - The disastrous Iran war - The Israeli establishment rationally believing that Netanyahu was making their state a pariah, and organising to get rid of him - The opposition overwhelmingly also supporting the genocide, occupation and illegal settlements If we include Ofer Winter's party - which pledged to support Netanyahu for prime minister, but hasn't crossed the threshold - then so far 51.5% of the non-Arab list vote went to the Netanyahu bloc. With 84.4% of votes counted, among the non-Arab list bloc, the opposition has only increased its share of the vote by about 1.6 points. Ben-Gvir and Smotrich stood separately this time, but are set to win almost the same combined number of seats as last time. The latter in alliance with Moshe Feiglin, who declared "Every child, every baby in Gaza is an enemy." The only significant shift is the surge in support for the Palestinian-led parties. But most of the opposition is opposed to working with them. Avigdor Lieberman, for example, has taken even more extreme positions towards Palestinians than Netanyahu himself. If they do a pact with the Palestinian-led parties, not only would it not last long, it would produce a huge right-wing backlash. That the opposition could on paper form an arithmetical majority with the support of the Palestinian-led parties - but absolutely will not - trashes the "well if the small minority of Palestinians who remained in Israel after the Nakba can vote, then Israel is a democracy for all its citizens" nonsense. A very likely prospect is that this will pave the way for new elections. The two right-wing parties which didn't cross the threshold would likely not stand again, boosting Netanyahu. The same huge mobilisation of Palestinian citizens of Israel would likely not transpire. Netanyahu and his allies would likely benefit from shock at the unexpected surge in support for the Palestinian-led parties. The opposition would be demoralised by its failure, and Netanyahu strengthened by having come out on top in this election. So it's best to bet on Netanyahu winning a coming election. What does all this mean? Any illusions that change can happen within Israeli society should long ago have been destroyed. The opposition would have continued the genocide, the occupation, apartheid and colonisation. But as Israel's support in the West collapsed, Israel's cheerleaders pushed the position that Netanyahu was the bogeyman, and that a shift in figurehead could allow the state to do a PR relaunch. Netanyahu isn't Israel, we were told. Well that's true in the sense that on many key issues, Israeli society is actually more extreme than Netanyahu. This baseless illusion is now dead and buried. There must now be a much more determined push for a total arms embargo and sweeping sanctions on Israel. Those arguing that Israel is something it plainly is not are now completely and utterly discredited.

How is there a "black hole" in the public finances, yet we've got £10 BILLION to prolong the war in Ukraine? Burnham - unlike the leaders of Finland and Norway yesterday - has done nothing to give impetus to diplomacy. He may have made Zelensky's day but Ukrainians want peace.
