Alan Alda says he went public with his Parkinson's because sooner or later some article was going to come out full of syrup. He means the version where his family is worried and his friends don't know what to do. He calls that nonsense. He was exercising and taking his medicine, and he was facing it. To him reality is a friend. You can't wish it away, so you accept what is, and if there's a chance to change it, you'd be foolish not to try.
