From day one, the promise—and the business proposition—of @TheFP was simple: We would marry the quality of the old world to the freedom of the new. We would seek the truth and tell it plainly. And we would treat readers like adults capable of making their own choices.
So many people told us this was no longer possible. That the premise of a media company built on trust rather than partisanship was, at best, a relic from the past—and, at worst, a fantasy that never was. That the internet killed journalism. That there simply weren’t enough Americans out there in search of media driven by honesty, independence, and integrity.
Our readers proved them wrong. Our subscribers demonstrated that there’s a market for honest journalism. And they’ve given us a mandate to pursue that mission from an even bigger platform.

Tomorrow we're releasing a full UATX course for free: all 19 lectures of Professor Isabella Reinhardt's Rise and Fall of Ancient Rome, filmed in class with our students.
It runs from Rome's mythical founding to the Third Century Crisis. It ends on a question the class spent a whole session arguing about: did Rome ever really fall?

After arriving as an immigrant from Africa, I worked so hard to build a business. After it was attacked last weekend, a revolutionary young woman told me on live television that it didn’t matter, writes Jhemima Sheilha. thefp.com/p/i-came-to-france…

Will never forget when @SnoozyWeiss first contacted me to ask if I could speak to her about happened. Her investigation was the first truly independent look at what actually happened.
When I first met David, a world-class molecular biologist whose name was being floated for the Nobel Prize, he was collecting unemployment. As of last week, he's been cleared by of wrongdoing and awarded $6,000,000 in damages.

The reputational destruction of Prof. David Sabatini was one of the worst excesses of the Great Awokening / Me-Too era. @BillAckman acted bravely in offering him support when the entire academic establishment cancelled him. Without his efforts, the complete absence of due process in his treatment by @MIT might never have come to light. The question I am left with: Will those whose misconduct has finally been exposed pay anything like the price they imposed on Sabatini? Will they be fired? Will their reputations be destroyed? They deserve it. He did not.
Vice President JD Vance tells @TonyDokoupil he thinks if someone's selling access to the White House, "That's disgusting and despicable and they should suffer consequences."

Today, a civil jury ruled in favor of Cambridge scientist David Sabatini in his defamation suit, awarding him $6 million in damages.
We were the first to report on his story.
It deserves another read:

"It wasn’t so long ago that DEI offices had enormous power on campus, where they could sway hiring decisions or help bring down even world-renowned faculty members.
Just ask David Sabatini. He was a molecular biologist working in Cambridge to figure out a protein called mTOR, which plays a critical role in tumor development, and he was at the top of his field. His research laid some of the groundwork for drug discoveries around organ transplantation and cancer treatment, and he was predicted to win the Nobel Prize. But Sabatini was fired in August 2021 from the job that paid his salary and resigned from two others, his name and reputation destroyed.
He had been working in science for about 25 years without so much as a complaint, he told me. But then Kristin Knouse, a fellow researcher with whom Sabatini had a consensual relationship, accused him of sexual harassment. 'I lost everything,' he told me back in 2022. 'My whole life imploded.'"

Important @TheFP: The young men losing out in modern dating are the ones w/o college degrees.
✅ 50% of young men w/o a degree are single vs. 31% of college grads
That’s partly because women still want providers:
✅ 7 in 10 Americans say a good man can support a family vs. 32% saying same of women
