#OTD in 1996, medicine laureate James Allison reported that blocking CTLA-4 with an antibody unleashes an immune response against cancer. In his @sciencemagazine paper, he showed that his new treatment successfully treated 90% of the mice with tumours he was studying.

Rico the porcupine gets his exercise in! Spending most of its time in the canopy, the Brazilian porcupine is an expert climber. Their muscular tail is nearly as long as the body and essentially acts as a fifth limb.

Moe and Lightning share a kiss 💋 behind the scenes! Although sloths are considered solitary animals, sharing a kiss between sloths is a great way for them to bond! These intimate moments are also thought to transfer enzymes and bacteria that could aid in digestion.

New research in Science represents a notable step forward in designing enzymes from scratch.
With a new approach, researchers designed an enzyme that uses a covalent intermediate to catalyze a two-step reaction, analogous to what many proteases do when breaking apart proteins. scim.ag/4hU7O1H
