Possibility: Today, City Schools CEO Dr. Jermaine Dawson shared his vision and hopes grounded in the feedback of over 1,200 Baltimore students, families, educators, and neighbors.
After 100 days of listening, Baltimore City Public Schools CEO Dr. Jermaine Dawson has unveiled a community-informed direction for our future built on three clear priorities:
• Protect what works
• Make the everyday run smoothly
• Build schools every neighborhood believes in
To reflect the community’s voice, Dr. Dawson featured a visual display of handwritten hopes collected across the city—adding the 100th and final word himself: Possibility.
Up next, a transition team of students, staff, families, and experts will turn these insights into action to ensure every student graduates career-ready, future-ready, and world-ready.

Honored to deliver my 4th State of the Schools address and share the progress happening across @CLEMetroSchools. We announced CMSD's highest graduation rate in district history, with the Class of 2026 currently at 84%, along with other notable student achievement gains and progress towards District Goals and Guardrails. (Note our grad rate may continue to vary slightly until it's reflected on next year's report card).
For the first time ever, 100% of CMSD high schools offer college and career pathways, and 100% of elementary schools offer enrichment programming through our Building Brighter Futures initiative. We also launched the CEO I.M.P.A.C.T. Council to elevate student leadership and voice.
While I'm proud of this progress, we're committed to ensuring every student has access to advanced coursework and greater opportunities for social and economic mobility. Our district's participation in the The Aspen Institute Education & Society Program Social Mobility Leadership Network will support this work.
Let's continue to LET 'EM KNOW about CMSD's successes while doing the work needed to address our challenges. I am grateful for the continued leadership of our CMSD Board of Education, Mayor Bibb, civic leaders, community partners, and to Congresswoman Brown who spoke to our scholars. I am also thankful for the support and prayers of my family, who were able to attend the event. Below is the link to watch the full address. #CMSD #BuildingBrighterFutures #LetEmKnow #ProudCEO
