here’s how ugc (user generated content) works:
for those who don’t know, ugc is paying some person to give an “organic” recommendation for a product
a good ugc video sets a 30sec timer of interest in the user’s mind, no longer
you have that time to convince the user to take an action
the easier it is to take the action, the better
easy actions:
> click tiktok shop link
> download mobile app
> visit website
the harder the action, the worse ur conversion, and the worse ugc will do for u
buying a $100 hardware device is a very hard action to take
but even with the easiest actions, the timer runs out after 30 seconds
which is why onboarding is the most important part of any consumer app and paywalls always come early, bc if they don’t, then ugc won’t work
this is true for all marketing, but ugc is unique in how short the timer it sets is
wrong.
