Think about how broken the education system is: We spend ~$20,000 per pupil in K-12 education around the Kansas City Metro. A class of 20 students has at least $400,000 tied up in it. Yet, the teachers, the ones on the front lines, the ones we rely on to teach and nurture our next generation aren't the highest-paid employees in the building, and certainly not close to the highest-paid in the system, at large. The system is broken. It's backwards. If the great teachers want to better their lot in life, and who could blame them, they have the LEAVE the classroom and play the administrative game. They have to get AWAY from the children to improve their financial situation. When the whole point of the system should be the give the kids the best teachers imaginable. The TEACHERS should be the highest-paid in the entire education system. They're not. Instead, layers of bureaucracy keep growing to encourage leaving the classroom. And then, the teachers (and the students) get used as pawns by the administrators when the same group that is destroying the system from the inside out claims they need more money to keep the system afloat.
