A good piece on Lyme disease. I encountered many of the issues discussed. Statistically, yes, I was unlucky to get it along with several accompanying infections. But the lack of knowledge encountered and delays in testing and treatment had consequences too.

It is completely understandable why people who have been ill for years without an explanation are drawn to the Lyme community. Finding others with similar experiences can bring validation and support when medicine has offered few answers. But uncertainty also creates opportunities for people who claim to have those answers. Private clinics offer tests of questionable value and treatments that may be unnecessary; influencers can spread compelling stories of illness and recovery to huge audiences. In that sense, Lyme tells a much broader story about health in the social media age. Personal experience can travel further than scientific evidence, and uncertainty can quickly acquire a diagnosis, a community and a commercial market around it. For people who are genuinely suffering, false certainty may ultimately be no kinder than having no answer at all. By Margaret McCartney and Deborah Cohen (@mgtmccartney and @deb_cohen). @deb_cohen & @mgtmccartney Q whether blood test subscriptions are an early warning or a waste of money? Celebrity-fronted companies promise regular private testing will ‘revolutionise’ healthcare, but @rcgp GPs say unreliable results are clogging their schedules thetimes.com/life-style/heal…

Now talking about the hormone gap - @AllisonCGardner says ‘there’s a real misunderstanding and belittling’ of women’s hormones, and a bias towards men’s quality of life which means that unless women talk about their libido they don’t get what they’re entitled to

A lot of folk saying Trump just making it up, and it was the Gloucestershire farmer who called it in. That’s possible. But there are many reasons to suppose this was an intelligence led Op, and if the security ppl have to put up with ‘how did they let them get so close’ commentary, that’s likely a price they’re willing to pay to protect sources and methods
Well this apparent confirmation that today's RAF Fairford counter-terrorist operation was gearing up for some time. And that suggests attribution - who put this plot together - may come soon

Sitting in a packed room bizarrely full of Mancs and cockneys when the Man City news drops. Collective groams and expletives when one bloke pipes up: "The last thing the world needs right now is a load of fckin' gloating scousers" 😀
