The front of this waterfront home gains visual depth from a turret. Inside of it is intimate sitting room. On the rear of the home, three balconies extend off the second floor. Those on either end are each part of a bedroom suite.

Razing and replacing an aging boathouse on Wychmere Harbor was a unique project for our firm, one which required extensive input from a variety of regulatory boards.

Several years ago, we were presented with the unexpected opportunity to design an English manor house. On the exterior, the home has architectural elements that are distinctly English in nature.
While the majority of our commissions are residential, we also frequently design commercial projects. In addition to the projects shown here, our recent work includes the renovation of the Lighthouse Inn and a multi-unit condominium project on Parkers River.

The design of one’s home should take the consideration of “first impression” beyond the exterior of the front door and into the entryway.

As the desire for multi-generational homes continues to grow, our clients often request amenities beyond an en-suite bath such as a sitting area or work space, and a private balcony or terrace.

Progress Report: The home we designed on Bass River is now fully framed. Interior work will soon begin.

An elongated open-concept living space occupies much of the first floor of this home. Because of its length, and to strengthen the sense of proportion, our designs included a stairway at either end.

Our designs are exceeding detailed. Whether for a new home or a renovation, every inch of space is thoughtfully contemplated.

For many of our clients, “the season” is all about hosting weekend guests and frequent dinner parties. With open-concept floor plans and kitchens that often include an oversized island, our designs reflect our clients’ wishes.

The progress made on the renovation of the Lighthouse Inn in just six weeks is incredible. Our design for the storied hotel preserved many of the classic details while creating much more open shared spaces such as the lobby and meeting rooms.

OUR NEW WEBSITE IS NOW LIVE. It provides users with an easy-to-navigate platform that offers a comprehensive portfolio of our work, our awards, and publications that have featured ERT Architects’ projects.
Two open-concept living areas are stacked between the gambrels that “bookend” either side of the house. The lower level has the more traditional living/dining area and kitchen. Upstairs, where the nearby saltmarsh is visible, is more of a den with a home theater and pool table.
After an understandably lengthy review process, the 36-unit residential subdivision in Duxbury that we designed is now under construction. One three-unit building has been completed, as has the site work.

Virtually every home on Cape Cod that we design considers outdoor spaces and the ease of transition between inside and out.

We included at least one gambrel in the design of each of these homes on Cape Cod, yet they bear virtually no further resemblance to each other which is just as it should be with architect-designed homes.

#FrontDoorFriday posts are fun, but we would make the argument that it is the architectural elements which surround a front door that really “make an entrance.”

Progress Report: A home we designed that sits alongside Bass River is only in the framing stages, yet the abundant use of windows on the rear façade, which faces the water, is already apparent.

The inclusion of several dormers in this whole-house renovation in Chatham nearly doubled the amount of livable space, with a small addition which houses a three-season porch with a fireplace the only change to the home’s original footprint.
