π¬ Three days of science, collaboration, learning and connection. What a way to bring #ESCP26 to a close. π¨πΏ
Our final day in Prague brought together the last scientific sessions and presentations, The Six Best, our Out of the Box Keynote Lecture, the Meeting Awards and the Presidential Handover β celebrating achievement while looking ahead to the next chapter for ESCP.
Across the Congress, weβve shared research, challenged ideas, built new connections and heard from voices from across the international colorectal community.
Thank you again to everyone who presented, participated, contributed, sponsored and joined us in Prague. Itβs been an incredible three days.
We cannot wait to see you for #ESCP27 in Geneva!π¨π
Together, weβre #ShapingTheNext20Years.
π Three proud moments in one: congratulations to Vittoria Bellato and Tina van Loon, both Lars PΓ₯hlman Award winners at this year's ESCP Annual Coloproctology Meeting in Prague!
Both mothers presented their outstanding work with their new-born little ones close by πΆ Could this become selection criteria for future meetings?! Congratulations to both Tina and Vittoria on both counts, award-winning research and the miracle that is birth.
A wonderful example of how excellence in surgery and motherhood can thrive together. π
well done Vittoria, Tina and of course the wonderful Alice Gori from the whole ESCP family! π

A huge thank you to all of the sponsors and exhibitors who have supported #ESCP26. πβ¨
From our Diamond, Sapphire and Emerald Sponsors to the many organisations exhibiting and supporting us here in Prague π¨πΏ, your contribution helped make this yearβs Scientific Meeting possible.
Thank you for being part of #ESCP26 and for supporting the ESCP community.
Together, weβre #ShapingTheNext20Years.
π βYou can only improve what you are measuring.β
At #ESCP26, Neil Smart Research Award recipient Bruno Augusto Alves Martins discusses his award-winning research: Outcomes of urgent gastrointestinal-related procedures in Latin America (LATAM-URG): A prospective multicentre study.Β π¨πΏ
The collaboration evaluated more than 1,000 patients across multiple countries, establishing baseline data that can support future initiatives to improve the quality of surgical care across Latin America.
Bruno also reflects on the work required to bring collaborators together across the region β and shares the recognition with the colleagues and surgeons who made the study possible.
Together, weβre #ShapingTheNext20Years.
π₯ Breaking the stigma around sexual dysfunction after rectal cancer.
At #ESCP26, Leandro Siragusa speaks with medical student Emma Holck following her presentation on research from specialised nurse-led clinics in Denmark. π¨πΏ
Emma discusses a challenge that many patients face: sexual dysfunction is recognised as an issue, but starting the conversation can still be difficult. Her research looks at a pathway using systematic screening and specialist nurses to identify patients who need support and create an environment where they can talk openly about a sensitive subject.
She also reflects on getting involved in colorectal research while still a medical student β and the experience of presenting that work to the international colorectal community at #ESCP26.
Together, weβre #ShapingTheNext20Years.
ποΈ βNo single surgeon, no hospital, no country can answer all the questions alone.β
Following todayβs Presidential Handover at #ESCP26, incoming ESCP President Professor Mehmet Ayhan Kuzu shares his vision for the Society and the year ahead. π¨πΏ
Education, research and collaboration across borders remain at the heart of that vision β alongside supporting the next generation of colorectal surgeons and helping members understand and responsibly adapt to AI and new technologies.
And ultimately, the purpose reaches beyond the profession: better education, research and collaboration should lead to better treatments, better outcomes and better quality of life for patients.
Congratulations to Professor Mehmet Ayhan Kuzu as he begins his Presidency β and leads ESCP into its next chapter.
Together, weβre #ShapingTheNext20Years.
