My new music video for @juliacumming_'s 'My Life' single on @partisanrecords has been out for one week. It was a hugely fun one to put together. Please enjoy the FULL video here! It's mostly one single shot (take 14, since you asked) and I couldn't even begin to make a vid like this without an AMAZING crew who worked their socks off. Full credits in previous posts and eternal thanks to them all.

58 years ago today, on November 6, 1968, the Monkees' movie Head premiered in New York City, with a gala at the Columbia Pictures studio on West 54th Street. Bob Rafelson directed it, and he and a young Jack Nicholson wrote and produced it, working from ideas the Monkees, Rafelson and Nicholson had brainstormed into a tape recorder at a resort in Ojai. The result was a plotless, satirical trip through westerns, war movies and musicals that took aim at the Monkees' own manufactured image. Victor Mature, Sonny Liston, Annette Funicello, Carol Doda, Frank Zappa and Teri Garr all turn up along the way. The teen fans stayed away and the counterculture crowd didn't trust it, but Head has since become a cult classic. Micky Dolenz is still with us; we lost Davy Jones in 2012, Peter Tork in 2019 and Mike Nesmith in 2021. 🎸 Head's soundtrack album was compiled by Jack Nicholson himself. Have you ever seen Head? 🎸

Finding out about this on for the first time is... disheartening. I had been pushing to do a Blu-Ray of SPACED for years, so to find out that someone just went ahead without our involvement is.... a bummer. Not authorized by anyone involved in making the show. Finding out what happened as we speak...
So SPACED is finally coming to blu-ray and it's from an "algorithmic" remaster in 4K... C'mon, seriously? @edgarwright did you have any involvement in this? Because an AI upscale is most disappointing...

Last Night in Soho’ turns 5 today. To celebrate this mini-milestone, here’s some concept art for Marcus Rowland’s amazing production design on the movie. This art was done by a talented human, Mr Paul Threadgold. You can see how we turned Goodge Place back to the ’60s, how we created the period Café de Paris on a soundstage, the fictitious Rialto club, an unnamed basement clip joint, and how we sent stretches of Greek, Frith and Bateman Streets in real Soho back in time. It’s been so lovely to read some of your comments on ‘Last Night in Soho’ this week. I remain very proud of the movie, both for the realization of some ambitious worlds and for the wonderful time I spent with this cast and crew. Those of you who saw it on the big screen when it was first released, I applaud you, especially with in the middle of an Omicron spike. But I do not begrudge anyone who came to it later, either. New viewers are always welcome. You can’t be late to a movie. Happy 5th, ‘Last Night in Soho’. See you in the Toucan for a pint of Numbers. @lastnightinsoho

Here are some behind-the-scenes photos from LAST NIGHT IN SOHO to celebrate its 5th anniversary this week. All stills by the great Parisa Taghizadeh. Watching the film again on Sunday night was a powerful trip down memory lane in a number of ways. It made me think of the incredible cast and crew: we worked so hard, but had a lot of fun too. It also made me think of a different London—not just the London of the 1960s, but a pre-Covid capital, as we made the film just before (and partly during) the pandemic. And of course, it made me think of two actors who are no longer with us: Dame Diana Rigg and Terence Stamp. Both legends, and both people I feel honoured to have known and have worked with.

(Now with music. Helps with a dance sequence!) 'Last Night In Soho' turns 5 this week. I'll post some behind the scenes photos in the next few days. But enjoy this breakdown of the 'Cafe De Paris' dance sequence with Anya Taylor Joy, Thomasin McKenzie and Matt Smith, choreographed by the great Jennifer White. Too many amazing people worked on this film with me, and there are sequences (like this) that I'm insanely proud of. Shoutouts to Marcus Rowland for this incredible set, the genius DOP Chung-Hoon Chung, our amazing VFX supervisor Tom Proctor and, in this scene especially, the magnificent camera operator Chris Bain. Enjoy and more soon! @lastnightinsoho @FocusFeatures @FictionComplete @Working_Title

More Oliver Reed! Check him out dancing up a storm in one of my favourite UK cult movies, Edmond T. Gréville’s BEAT GIRL (1960): a wonderfully lurid trip through the beatnik coffee bars and strip clubs of Soho. Set to John Barry’s fantastic score (his first), this scene sees Gillian Hills’ teen temptress heading down to a Soho basement and frugging away with Ollie Reed in the checked shirt. Enjoy.

Hey UK! The delicious trio of SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ and THE WORLD’S END has found a new home on @Film4. Delighted to have our tales of zombies, village conspiracies and catastrophically ill-advised pub crawls all together on the channel. They’re playing now, with another round starting this Saturday: SHAUN on October 24th, FUZZ on the 26th and WORLD’S END on the 27th, all at 9pm. All three films (plus @lastnightinsoho) are streaming free on @Channel4. Get the Cornettos in.

We shot the aftermath first. Then redressed everything to shoot the 'before times' after. The ace steadicam operator was Paul Edwards. It was the first day of the shoot on the film too!
SHAUN OF THE DEAD (2004) uses the exact same walk before and after the zombie outbreak, turning an ordinary morning routine into a brilliant visual joke. The attention to detail is unreal.
