✍️ Discover the art of traditional Mexican Calaveritas Literarias! ✨ Join us for a fun and creative writing workshop led by Dr. Jane Lavery from @unisouthampton exploring one of Mexico’s most distinctive literary traditions. 💀 Calaveritas Literarias are traditional Mexican poems composed of short, satirical and humorous verses, written as playful epitaphs for friends, family members or public figures. @Embamexru had the privilege to attend “Day of the Dead: When They Come To Visit,” an event that brought the richness of Latin American culture to the heart of Newcastle, England. Through a contemporary interpretation of the Day of the Dead tradition, attendees enjoyed an immersive experience featuring live music and dance, took part in creative linocut printing workshops inspired by this tradition, and joined in celebrating one of Latin America’s most vibrant cultural and family traditions. Held on 23 October 2026 at @northernstage the event was organised by the Latin American Creative Events Committee, led by creative producer Yunuen Perez, artist Itzel Toral, visual experience designer Mariana Ramirez, community leader Gladys Castillo, and academic Jose Antonio Gonzalez Zarandona. The event provided a welcoming space to remember loved ones, share creative experiences, and strengthen community bonds through music, art, and culture. #DiadeMuertosMx #MexicoinNewCastle
