New: NYC will pay the teachers’ union $8.7 million for “building positive nurturing environments” during the COVID pandemic in 2020-2022 under a RETROACTIVE contract approved last night by the Panel for Educational Policy. The DOE refused to specify what labor the UFT provided, or explain why the city is funding it SIX YEARS LATER.

Here’s one where the tenants calling the specially appointed oversight ombudsman are told repairs would take a minimum of 6 months. Same landlord.

Socioeconomic status was key indicator of voting in Israel's elections.
Among Jewish voters, in the lowest socio-economic cluster, Netanyahu's coalition won North Korean levels of support. In the top cluster, 81% voted for the Change Bloc.

Just delightful videos of Bedouin Israeli voters riding camels to the polls, mostly to vote for Ra'am, an Islamist party with a Jewish #2 that could be the kingmaker in the election's outcome.

Alex Pretti's father: Our son was shot and killed by the government, federal immigration agents, on January 24th, 2026. We learned about his death from the media as we saw him being shot repeatedly in the back after helping a woman from his community. This was not a protest that Alex was at. His hands were in the air, and his face was on the ground when he was executed by ICE agents. We know exactly what our eyes saw. No one from the federal government called us on that day. But they did go on TV to tell lies about Alex. No one has called us since. No one has recanted those lies.

More affordable housing in Brooklyn is great, but $62.3 million for 85 apartments works out to $733k per apartment—and the city already owned the land.
We're never going to scale up public housing construction if we can't bring these costs down.
We’re proud to announce yet another affordable housing development in our district! We’re delivering rents in Bed-Stuy for as low as $703 a month for a one bedroom and up to $956 a month for a three bedroom - that’s literally unheard of!
Thank you to our housing partners @BKBPReynoso , @stnicksalliance @bedstuyrestoration, @nychousing for helping us get this done.

In 2021, Israel's short-lived anti-Netanyahu government included for the first time an independent Arab party, Ra'am. The backlash to that catapulted anti-Arab politicians like Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich into the next government. The backlash to that government appears to have resulted today in a record showing for Israel's Arab parties. As is always the case in politics, the story is never over, it is still being written.
