No, ranking on Google doesn't mean ChatGPT will mention you.
Three things decide that.
And I'll explain them now:
1. Query fan-out
When you ask ChatGPT one question, it turns it into lots of smaller ones.
Example question: "Best fado show in Porto?"
It gets broken down into further questions like:
- "fado show prices Porto"
- "fado with dinner Porto"
- "most authentic fado in Porto"
It looks all of them up at the same time and mixes what it finds into one answer.
2. Semantic similarity
"I'm hungry" and "I want a snack" match in semantic similarity, even though they share not the same words.
(semantic = study of language AND meaning)
It matters because ChatGPT is precisely looking for matches in meaning, not in words.
So if your page doesn't have a clear intention. and doesn't states the meaning rightly, it won't get picked.
3. Semantic triple
The Semantic Triple is a basic writing tip: subject + predicate + object.
It's made of three parts:
- a thing (subject)
- what it does (predicate)
- and what it does it to (object)
Example: "Porto has fado shows."
It matters because short, clear facts like these are the easiest for AI to grab and repeat.
So what do you do?
Fan-out Query: answer the small questions people ask, not just the big one.
Semantic Similarity: say things the way people actually ask them.
Semantic Triple: write your key facts as simple sentences an AI can copy.
Do that and ChatGPT will have no way to ignore you.

You don't need more traffic.
You need to maximize the traffic you already got.
The biggest opportunity of SEO is often lost, because you don't get that visitor back.
The ways to solve this are surprisingly easy:
- Set up paid retargeting campaigns
+ Bonus: capture their emails and engage forever
You don't even need an AI for that.
Will it be more expensive? Yes.
But it will maximize the money you do from all your marketing efforts.
The math is simple:
Suppose you have a B2B travel agency and you convert 1% of your visitors
Each package you sell leaves you 2-3K in profit
- You spend 40K a year on SEO
- You get 10,000 visits a month, 120,000 a year
- 1% ask for a quote: 1,200 leads
- 30% are real companies with a budget: 360
- You close 1 in 4: 90 packages
- At 2.5K profit each, that's 225K
You spent 40K to make 225K. 185K in your pocket.
Now add retargeting for 3K a month, 36K a year.
It shows your ads to the 99% who left without asking for a quote. Only a few come back, about 2 in every 1,000:
- 1,200 leads become 1,440. That's 240 more leads
- 360 real companies become 432
- 90 packages become 108
- 225K profit becomes 270K
In short, you make more money, and that's what matters:
- Without retargeting: 225K − 40K SEO = 185K profit
- With retargeting: 270K − 40K SEO − 36K ads = 194K profit
Another way to look at it is just making sure your Google Ads are bringing in more dollars than what you invested.
It's that simple.

Insane Reddit SEO HACK with Ahrefs:

2. Add keyword you're interested in.
3. Filter by Keyword Difficulty (KD) low.
4. Check results, pick keywords, build content, internal links and backlinks.
5. Go to Reddit again. Post the content or a response and put a link with credit and contextualized commentary.
6 WIN: Now you're ranking your website and also earning the clicks from the Reddit Thread!
Most of you are throwing darts trying to "rank in ChatGPT" without ever dissecting what happens.
Here's an example and reason and why I always say to focus on Topical Coverage —instead of Keywords— to show up in ChatGPT
Example:
1. I just asked chatGPT to help me fix my neck pain.
It asked me a few follow up questions (what side of the neck, which provided more context) , and then ChatGPT did two rounds of query fan out.
2. The web search it used:
"neck upper trapezius stretch physical therapy illustration"
That query went to bing, Google, and other search-related partners.
The responses were all scored against each other, and ChatGPT offered a final answer that also also brought a few citations.
3. When you do that query search on Google, it brings a specific solution to my problem.
These are some of the page results I could see:
- How to Perform the Upper Trapezius Stretch
- THE NECK STRETCHING EXERCISES
- Neck Strectch to the Side (Upper trap stretch)
- Head Tilt (Upper Trapezius Stretch)
See how it didn't look for "How to fix neck pain", but instead focused on specific context and results.
If you wanted to rank and get cited you'd have to aim at topical coverage, which will give you better chances or earning the click.
I'm working on a tool to integrate this on roborank, probably will offer a free chrome extension as well.
