As part of its Living Brain Project, Mt. Sinai physicians removed small pieces of brain tissue from patients during treatment called deep brain stimulation.
But patients were not told that an earlier FDA review of the Living Brain Project found "major concerns" with the procedure, and that it should stop.
The FDA failed to share the conclusions of the investigation with Mt. Sinai.
