One well pad. Multiple wells. A fraction of the footprint.
Best-practice geothermal development leaves a small imprint and a lasting positive impact. The Geothermal Sustainable Development Pact commits Fervo to minimizing land disturbance and protecting the ecosystems surrounding our sites — because where we work matters as much as how.
Fervo’s horizontal drilling technology accesses vast underground heat resources from a single surface location, dramatically reducing land disturbance compared to other forms of energy development. It’s the same approach that’s long powered the oil and gas industry, now applied to clean, 24/7 geothermal.
That same small footprint is what makes geothermal a valuable, carbon-free power source for the next generation of energy-intensive industries — from green hydrogen to lithium extraction — without the land footprint those industries have historically required.

Why is geothermal built like a Lego set?
Build it once, you make mistakes. Build it on repeat and much faster.

From oil and gas to enhanced geothermal.
That’s the path of Aleksei Titov, a senior geophysicist on Fervo Energy’s Data Acquisition and Advanced Analytics team. At IMAGE 2026, he co-authored four talks on what we’re learning beneath Cape Station, from microseismic imaging to fault characterization, alongside research partners at Rice, LBNL, and MIT.
“I’m basically applying the skills I learned back in school when I was doing my PhD and applying them to real applications,” Aleksei says.
At Fervo, that means turning years of subsurface expertise into clean, firm power, and working on problems that don’t have a textbook answer yet.
If you’re a geophysicist, data scientist, or wondering where your skills could go next, your expertise could power this too.
