Today, we pause to remember and honour those who gave their lives for our freedom.
Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
As our local communities come together in remembrance, we take a moment to reflect and pay our respects.
Lest we forget. 🥀

Peer support is incredibly comforting, someone who have lived experience can show you there is light ahead. These letters are so heartfelt and valuable.
However professional support is important for vulnerable people.

Good morning,
We’re delighted to share a special message from our ambassador, Greg Wise, about how you can get involved in National Grief Awareness Week 2026.
This morning, Greg joined @lorraine to celebrate the publication of his brilliant new book, Grief Talking.
We’re incredibly proud that The Good Grief Trust is featured in the book, with Greg kindly recognising our work and signposting readers to our charity for support.
Through personal stories and reflections on his own experiences of grief, Greg explores the realities of bereavement and the challenges so many people face.
As we approach Christmas, we're proud to be working alongside Greg to amplify these important messages and encourage more open, honest conversations about grief.
After Goodbye we are all connected by a thread 🧵 of hope 🧡
🧡Together, let's help people feel less alone, better understand the language of grief and create a more compassionate, connected community.
Because talking about grief matters. And no one should have to face it alone.

THE GOOD GRIEF TRUST CHAMPIONS A NATIONAL STANDARD, FOR BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT IN PARLIAMENT
GOVERNMENT POLICY & FUNDING PROPOSAL
The Good Grief Trust is leading the call for a National Standard for Early Bereavement Signposting Across Health and Social Care
Last month we were at Portcullis House, UK Parliament, meeting with MP Helen Maguire to champion one vital message:
Everyone deserves access to the right bereavement support, at the right time, wherever they live and whatever their circumstances.
Our ambassadors, Ben Kennedy and Lydia Baker, shared their deeply personal story of devastating loss, and how compassionate care and early signposting can make a life-changing difference.
Following the death of his wife, Jo, and their unborn baby during childbirth, Ben struggled to find support that reflected his family's circumstances. It was Lydia, the bereavement midwife who cared for them, who signposted Ben to The Good Grief Trust.
Their experience highlights exactly why our work matters:
No one should have to rely on chance to find help after someone dies.
🧡 AN IMPORTANT STEP FORWARD!
Following this meeting, we are delighted to confirm that Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust will be funding The Good Grief Trust's Condolence and Signposting Cards, recognising them as an essential resource within the toolkit of healthcare professionals supporting bereaved families.
This is exactly the kind of practical change we want to see happening across the UK.
We are calling for these resources to be available in every hospital, alongside a consistent national bereavement strategy, so every family receives equal access to information, support and compassionate care.
A huge thank you to Ben and Lydia for sharing their story, and to Helen Maguire for listening and helping us take this important work forward.
Our ambition is simple: wherever a death occurs, every bereaved person should know where to turn for help.
Because finding support should never be a postcode lottery.

🧡AFTER GOODBYE – National Grief Awareness Week 2026 🧡
One day, every family will face goodbye. But grief doesn’t mean we have to face it alone.
This year, our overarching theme for National Grief Awareness Week (NGAW) 2026 is AFTER GOODBYE – celebrating the power of community, connection and, above all, HOPE.
We’re shining a special light on young people experiencing bereavement, recognising the importance of being heard, supported and reminded that they are never alone.
We want to explore what happens after a death – the people, moments and connections that help us find a way forward.
🌈 So, join us and help us spread a little HOPE!

News of Greg Wise’s forthcoming book, Grief Talks, is reaching an ever-growing audience through the posts we have been sharing ahead of publication day this Thursday.
We are incredibly proud to work closely with our ambassador, to raise greater awareness of the importance of learning the language of grief.
Greg signposts to us in the book to help anyone read in it and needing support, to know where to turn.
As Greg says, “We are all in childish denial that it is going to happen to us.” By opening up conversations, connecting with friends and family, and recognising that support is there when we need it most, we can help create a kinder, more compassionate society where grief is better understood and nobody feels they have to face it alone.
We are very much looking forward to attending Greg’s events over the coming weeks and are confident that Grief Talks will become an important resource for so many people navigating the loss of someone they love.
A hugely important book, and a conversation we all need to be part of.

🧡 A THREAD OF HOPE – NATIONAL GRIEF AWARENESS WEEK 2026 🧡
Seven years ago, The Good Grief Trust launched the very first National Grief Awareness Week campaign at Portcullis House, Westminster. Today, we are delighted to announce that we will be returning to Parliament to launch National Grief Awareness Week 2026!
Under this year's powerful theme:
🧡 ‘After Goodbye, young or old, we are all connected by a thread of hope’ 🧡
We will be bringing together parliamentarians, special guests, ambassadors, charities and people with lived experience of bereavement to shine a light on grief and call for a more compassionate, connected and consistent approach to bereavement support across the UK.
We are delighted to welcome our guest speakers and ambassadors, to include Greg Wise, Mohamed Omer MBE and Rhian Mannings MBE, Pride of Britain Award winner.
Our Parliamentary event will also mark two important launches:
🧡 The Little Card of Hope – a new initiative for schools nationwide, helping children and young people understand grief and find support.
🧡 Our Petition for a National Bereavement Signposting Standard – calling for everyone experiencing bereavement to be able to find the right support when they need it.
Since our first campaign in 2019, National Grief Awareness Week has grown into a nationwide movement, bringing communities, organisations and individuals together to open up conversations about grief and loss.
We know that December can be an especially difficult time for those who are grieving. Nobody should have to navigate grief alone.
This December, let's come together, share stories, start conversations and remind one another that, even after goodbye, hope and connection remain.
Please get involved! Whether you are an individual, school, charity, organisation or community group, you can help make a difference.
Together, we can make grief everyone's business. 🧡

🌅 GOOD MORNING – WE HAVE NEWS! 🧡
We’re delighted to announce that The Good Grief Trust will be returning to the House of Commons this December to host a Parliamentary event marking the start of National Grief Awareness Week 2026. 🧡
📅 Wednesday 2 December 2026
Eight years ago today, we were at Portcullis House, Westminster, launching our inaugural National Grief Awareness Week campaign. What began as a mission to raise awareness of the impact of grief and loss has grown into an annual campaign bringing people, communities and organisations together across the UK.
In 2019, we brought together Government representatives, MPs, Peers, charities and people with lived experience of bereavement. Together, we shared the names of those who had died and remembered them as one. Our first campaign theme, ‘Open Up to Grief’, created an incredibly moving moment that reminded us all of the importance of talking openly about loss.
🧡 This December, we’ll come together once again.
We know that December can be an especially difficult time for those who are grieving. National Grief Awareness Week provides an opportunity to shine a light on the experiences of millions of bereaved people, encourage greater understanding and compassion, and ensure that no one feels alone in their grief.
Through our accessible toolkit of resources, events, activities and support, we’re encouraging communities across the country to start conversations, share experiences and help people find the support they need.
🧵 Our 2026 theme is:
‘After Goodbye, we are all connected by a thread of hope.’
We invite you all to get involved! Whether you’re an individual, charity, organisation or community group, you can help us bring people together, support one another and remind everyone that, even after loss, we are still connected.
🧡 Raising awareness.
🧡 Starting conversations.
🧡 Busting the taboo.
🧡 Keeping hope alive.
Let’s make National Grief Awareness Week 2026 a powerful reminder that grief is something we should never have to face alone.
Will you join us? 🧡🧵Please email [email protected] to book your place
