“Who Are We Talking To? was conceived as something that might encourage activism. It might be naive, but I still believe that people have real power for change if they can get together in large enough numbers. Politicians will respond - democracy or not.” - pg The cover art for this track is called ‘Bloques’ by Spanish artist Juan Genovés. Who Are We Talking To? (Dark-Side Mix) is out now. Aardman are celebrating their 50th anniversary with a new show at Lightroom in London, called Larger Than Life. The 50-minute show, on four 11-metre walls, tells the story of how Aardman’s legendary films and characters are built, one tiny, hand-crafted move at a time. Included is a short section of the video for Sledgehammer, as you can see in this photo courtesy of Aardman’s co-founder Sir David Sproxton!

"‘Sledgehammer’ was obviously a big track from that record and that was, in part, homage to the music that I grew up with." - pg The music video for Sledgehammer won nine awards at the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year as well as Best British Video at the 1987 Brit Awards.

“I'm attracted to stuff that is going against the rules in an unconventional way. If you're used to seeing art in a museum or on walls and here it is tumbling over the walls, that feels like a more interesting, adventurous and unlikely context. I wasn't aware of Tadashi Kawamata's work before seeing this image but this was the thing that got me excited and I thought it was brilliant for this song.” - pg Watch the full video on YouTube. youtu.be/_KhG0ppmews

"When I told him I wanted to be shot, smoking a cigarette under-water, he was not in the least fazed. He found a place in London - an old Seventies disco with coloured lights and a mini pool in the centre of it. I jumped into this pool to get filmed, only to discover that the lights had shorted and received quite a shock." - pg 📸 Terry O’Neill

“When I saw The Nest at Amos Rex, I fell in love with it. To me, the wall is is there big and solid, a bit like death and these messy human chairs are falling over the wall and somehow they spill over the top. It's a sort of David and Goliath moment, that these chairs can get up and over. It's funny, but it's also hopeful and against unbelievable odds.” - pg The wonderful artwork for Face the Wall is titled The Nest by Tadashi Kawamata. “The way John Metcalfe and I work together changes very much from song to song. Sometimes there'll be ideas that I will have tried out on synths with different sounds and maybe defined a few melodies and other times, he'll come up with a whole new concept. He's a brilliant writer, arranger and I love his own work as a composer” - pg Watch the full video, out now on YouTube. youtu.be/_KhG0ppmews

The Bright-Side Mix for Face the Wall is out now. "It began with the melody and then I tried it with a groove, I tried it acoustically. It felt like it needed proper piano playing so Tom Cawley helped with the recording of this one and he played beautifully." - pg Listen here: lnk.to/PGS44

"Cultures which include death as a normal part of life seem more comfortable with it and so that was the starting point. I think music is a cathartic process for a lot of us. When I'm singing at the end 'I see you coming through' that is a cathartic moment. It suggests there is a reason to be hopeful." - pg Watch the full video on YouTube. youtu.be/_KhG0ppmews

"Part of the idea of using US, other than the fact that it was another two-letter title which doesn’t give me huge room for variation, was the sense that there is a dividing line between ‘us’ and ‘them’. The further back you can push the dividing line, the less problems the world is going to have. The more people you feel compassion, sympathy and understanding for the better." - pg 'US' was released #onthisday in 1992.

The Harvest full moon sees the release of Face the Wall. "After last month, where we were ‘looking for the happy’, we can just follow that line all the way through and come to Face the Wall, which is looking directly in the face of death. A nice, cheerful subject. The lyric is partly about getting older, facing illness, and it's looking death in the face, which I think we don't do enough of." - pg The cover art is called ‘The Nest. Amos Rex’ by Tadashi Kawamata. Photographed by Mika Huisman. Face the Wall (Dark-Side Mix) is out now. Listen here: lnk.to/PGS44
