Two interesting things here. 1. Another poll where gap is reaching stage Tories can credibly claim to more transactional reform voters we are main party on the right. 2. Big variation in Labour leads now across pollsters.

Polling stations open tomorrow in Israel and results known by Wednesday morning, but it could take months for a new government to be formed. Israel is a proportional representation party list system where parties win seats according to their percentage of the vote. /1

There could be a late twist in the drama. Netanyahu's Likud might win less seats than Eisenkot but if Jewish Power and Religious Zionism strengthen their position and pick up those votes and more it could boost Netanyahu's chances of forming the next Government /6

Whatever the result, all adult Israeli citizens can vote - Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Druze, Bahai and others. The first election was held in 1949, and despite there being no history of democracy and the vast majority of its citizens having never experienced a democracy before /7

Excellent profile of @gadi_eisenkot in @TheEconomist this morning by @AnshelPfeffer The first Israeli leader for a long time who isn’t just a wanna-Bibi but is something altogether different and perhaps might have the winning edge.

There is the Middle East war we discuss out here, and there is what happens inside the room. @brett_mcgurk's new book takes us inside the actual room, where it all looks rather different. I interviewed him for @thetimes thetimes.com/world/middle-ea…

Today marks three years since October 7th 2023 - the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. On that day, Hamas terrorists unleashed a wave of barbaric violence, murdering more than 1,200 innocent men, women and children, and taking 251 people hostage. We remember all those murdered. May their memory be a blessing.

Although it feels like I am shouting into the void about this sometimes, I want to share some thoughts on the “Zionism is Racism” motion which the Green Party is due to debate in the next 10 hours, to address various points which I think people in general should know. A 🧵

Thoroughly recommend reading this outstanding book by @scmallaby about @demishassabis AI and Google DeepMind. Brilliantly written, makes the science accessible and takes you on the wild journey from the early days of DeepMind to the frantic and frightening race to LLMs and AGIs.

Israel’s parliamentary election to be held in 107 days on October 27. Against all odds Netanyahu’s government has lasted an entire term.

Totally normal gift for the Turkish President to give to fellow NATO leaders.
Çünkü bunu Birleşik Krallık’a sokmak yasal değil. Bu nedenle tabancayı Türkiye’de bıraktı.”
