My new book Nights Out In The Kitchen is a culinary coming out: yes, there are many recipes inspired by my favourite restaurant dishes, but also there are mine, incl my braised spaghetti and meatballs, onion and Parmesan tart and salmon teriyaki.

For today’s @ftweekend I am at Cloth Cornhill, a hot opening and with good reason. A skilled team has made the old look new, look old again. As to the food imagine a greedy Edwardian had hired a french chef to cook British classics. Oh the venison pie.

For this weeks @ftweekend.com I am at Miokuru, a terrific handroll bar in Soho where dinner is hand to hand. Gosh, it’s good.

A mid week piece from me, on the @FT newspages. In an act of extraordinary generosity the owner of the building which houses Rules, London’s oldest restaurant, has donated it to the @nationaltrust

God, I love London City Airport. Curb to departure lounge in 3 mins. Anyway, on my way to St Andrews for the first of three Nights Out In The Kitchen events with the always brilliant Toppings . A few tickets left.

For today’s @ftweekend I am at the restaurant inside the Mayfair furniture shop RH London. And it’s chaos. Warm water. Can’t mix cocktails. Run out of hamburgers. Dull food for bored oligarchs. Have a few quotes and a pic of a £22 baked potato.

After one of our longer breaks (because we did one of our longest unbroken series at the start of the year) the kitchen cabinet is opening its doors for business again. We start in Inverness. tickets at the link below.

For today’s @ftweekend I am at Elkstone Studios in the Cotswolds, rolling my eyes performatively at the crass cult of ‘wellness’ while also enjoying the joys of Lardon, the southern European restaurant on site.

A huge thank you to the big crowd who came to this afternoon's slightly weirdly timed show in Belfast (as in 2pm on a Wednesday). You were fab. Just Coventry and Salford left.
Edinburgh: see you tomorrow afternoon.
Edinburgh people: I'm in your city this weekend, with a matinee performance on Sunday of my Nights Out In The Kitchen show. It's funny. I answer some very big questions, like "am I a bastard?" Then I answer your questions. Tickets at the link below.

For today’s @ftweekend I am at Kid, a big Soho opening we all have to weigh in. My take: the food is as lovely as you would expect from Sertac Dirik, but don’t let the ineffably cool Soho setting convince you it’s more radical than it is.

My big feature on the best brown dish this weekend included a recipe for a Tuscan Peposo, a beef and red wine stew with peppercorns. Which we didn’t read properly. Things were missing. Like what to do with the other half of the wine. So here it is, corrected. Apologies.
For today’s @ftweekend I am at Mirtala, a terrific neighbourhood restaurant celebrating both the food of Mexico, and a friendship between two women, one from Mumbai, the other from Nuevo Leon.

An interview with me by Reuters. As a student newspaper editor I got the application form for the Reuters Graduate Trainee scheme. It asked me to list the three languages other than my native tongue, In which I was fluent. The application stopped there.

For today’s @ftweekend I am at Igni, a live fire restaurant serving a brilliant tasting menu which is beautifully paced. Have pictures of the oyster in a cucumber beurre blanc, the Yukon gold bread, the aged duck, and the cannele.
