Grateful beyond measure - for the joy of writing the song with Fraser, for singing it out to crowds - for last night in that incredible room, feeling part of a community of song writers whose work is so crucial to me, and who I adore.Thank you @IvorsAcademy

and I wish that somewhere in the crush of whatever you’re holding up, you can find the space to rest. And that the rest is the kind that reinvigorates you in your resolve to keep going. I hope you can feel love and that your love can be expressed somehow.

I put everything into writing this novel. I don’t think I’ve sunk so deeply or swum so hard for anything I’ve made before. Between gigs I was hammering out fifteen hour days at the desk to get the drafts over the line. I got to the point I didn’t know which world was the real one

I had three sentences pinned to the wall when I first started working. The first is a quote attributed to Ted Hughes; ‘Write what you can’t bear to admit’. The second is Aristotle; ‘You are what you do repeatedly’ And the third is my own daily reminder; nobody should be condemned

So excited to be joined on this track by Leah Cleaver whose voice gives me life. It’s been a dream to work together with @FraserTSmith and Leah.

It feels powerful re-summoning the spirit of this song in this moment. I’ve performed it live a few times and it’s a stunning feeling to find it with the crowd, it feels like a revelation. All we have to see is that I don’t belong to you and you don’t belong to me. Freedom.
