A very moving Remembrance Sunday ceremony at Lewisham War Memorial, commemorating the sacrifice of all those who have died in war and recognising all those who work for peace. Lewisham councillors and members were honoured to be joined by Baroness Lawrence 🌹We will remember them

Landsec gave two reasons for pulling back from the £1.5bn Lewisham town centre regeneration: the economy, and the Green Mayor's refusal to support the next phase. We asked shoppers what they think now it's been shelved. What's the Green Mayor's plan for the site now?

Two major investments lost in one week under Lewisham’s Green Mayor. Goldsmiths has quit its Catford campus, days after Landsec dropped its £1.5bn Lewisham Shopping Centre plan. The Mayor must explain what he did to stop it, and his plan for Catford and central Lewisham.

On Tuesday, Landsec shelved its £1.5bn plan for Lewisham Shopping Centre. Today, Goldsmiths has walked away from its planned Catford campus: 600+ students, a 10-year lease, millions of council investment. The Green Mayor @LiamShrivastava promised hope. Where is it for Catford?

Under the Green Mayor Lewisham has lost a £1.5bn town centre plan. 1,700 homes. A park the size of a Premiership pitch. A music venue. 300+ trees. Approved under Labour. Shaped by 2,500+ residents. Landsec says the Greens’ refusal to back the next phase is part of why.

Under the Greens, Lewisham has lost a £1.5bn town centre plan. 1,700 homes, a new park, a music venue and so much more. On a site where nobody lives. Our group leader, @Ese_Journo, warned the Mayor this would happen. He called her embarrassing. Lewisham deserves better.

Lewisham Shopping Centre’s redevelopment has been halted. £1.5bn of investment, 329 affordable homes and up to 1,900 jobs, gone. @Ese_Journo warned the Mayor his approach risked driving Landsec away. He dismissed it. Residents deserve an apology and a plan Via @greenwich_wire

Landsec has pulled out of its £1.5bn investment in Lewisham shopping centre, citing Mayor @LiamShrivastava's Green administration's lack of support. 300+ affordable homes, jobs, a park and a music venue: gone. Our Group Leader @Ese_Journo has written to the Mayor 👇

9 days since the Green Party passed its ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion. Lewisham’s Mayor @LiamShrivastava won’t say if he supports it. 5 days since Labour MPs first wrote to him. No reply. His cabinet lead for communities backed it. Residents deserve to know where you stand, Liam.

The Green Party's 'Zionism is Racism' motion crosses a line that’s deeply divisive. We're calling on Lewisham Green Party to condemn it, and to say whether the Mayor or any of its councillors voted for it.

Let me say this very directly. Football does not belong to investors. It belongs to the people who fill the stands and who stand on the touchline week in, week out, rain or shine. The World Cup is not a product. It is the greatest competition in world sport, and it was never anyone's to sell. Dress the deal up however you like. Once you have sold a piece of it, you have sold out. Football belongs to the fans. It always has, and it always will.
