Let’s try to remember this, please.
It’s been 63 years since suicide was decriminalised in the UK. But so many of us still use the term ‘commit suicide’.
Why does it matter? Language that links suicide and crime can increase stigma and prevent people struggling with suicidal thoughts from speaking out.
If we choose language like ‘died by suicide’ or ‘took their own life’ we allow space for open conversations and compassion. Let’s choose our words carefully.

Caring isn’t just my family's story, it is the story of millions, caring for each other, dealing with tough times, and keeping going with love.
Sharing our story hasn't been easy, but it's important. It's time to bring carers' experiences into the light.

As part of #pridemonth please take a few moments to read my thoughts.
"Being your true self, in a safe environment, takes so much pressure off an individual to constantly check yourself and removes another layer of pressure to how you perform," says @MarkMalcomson, principal and CEO of @citylit. #PrideMonth

What a pleasure to interview @DrRosena today. Such an inspiring and passionate advocate for mental health and wellbeing.
Brilliant to be a keynote speaker at the @watercoolerevnt in the ExCeL London today, for a discussion on mental health in Government and the NHS.
Rather than railing against a "sick note" culture, we must be encouraging more openness and understanding around mental health.
Great that we had our friends from @uk_beyondwords at @citylit yesterday. Amazing work being done together!
