This #InternationalControlRoomWeek, we're saying a huge thank you to our fire control team at North West Fire Control for the great work they do to support our firefighters and protect the public of Greater Manchester, Cumbria, Cheshire and Lancashire every day 📞🎉
They are our vital link between our communities and our firefighters, providing calm reassurance in difficult moments, gathering essential information, and helping us respond quickly and effectively to incidents 🚒
Children’s themed costumes are currently classified as toys. Remember all garments have a risk of being flammable – you must keep them away from naked flames to prevent your child from sustaining devastating burns.
⏰ Clocks go back an hour tomorrow (Sunday 25 October).
While you're setting your clocks, take a minute to test your smoke alarms too.
A working smoke alarm gives you vital extra time to escape if a fire does occur in your home - press the button until it sounds.

Know your escape route and practice it with housemates. 📱In an emergency, always phone 999.

Last year we were called to 152 false alarms at student accommodation, with almost a third of these due to smoke detection being set off by cooking and burnt toast. 🚒
That's time our fire engines may have been diverted from real emergencies.
Help prevent false alarms by avoiding distractions in the kitchen and thinking about ventilation when you're cooking. 🍳🍽️
