Kick it, yo. Time to give IoT a lil' messaging upgrade.

Can an IoT data platform for smart cities stay tech-agnostic when LoRaWAN dominates PropTech?@useijmer from @Induo_AB breaks down real trade-offs between LoRaWAN, cellular and data strategy in episode 51. Listen now.

Comin' in hot to the new year with @johanstokking on The Business of LoRaWAN.
We talk about the 2025 conference, the 2026 conference, and everything in between, from hundreds of thousands of fridges to multi-radio silicon.

Last week on The Business of LoRaWAN, we spoke with Matthew Patrick about LoRaWAN vs. Meshtastic — and why it’s not really a “vs” debate at all.
In the real world, success isn’t about the radio. It’s about ownership, standards, interoperability, and long-term sustainability.
This week’s episode zooms out to the ecosystem layer. Catch you Wednesday.
Sometimes the math is funny. Taking a 45 minute webinar to under 3 minutes costs 45 minutes of listening, another 40 of slide show making, 30 minutes of recording plus another 15 or so of editing...
“The biggest mistake in IoT? Skipping the RF. People jump straight to the part they understand and hope the wireless magic button works.”

A fun little exploration here, trying to recap a 60 minute video in 60 seconds using the AI magic all the kids are talking about.
How do you connect your IoT sensors to the internet?
Lots of options out there, here's a primer on wireless connections for IoT devices:

If ya don't have 60 minutes for the @LoRaAlliance AMA, here's the 4 minute (I meant it to be 3 but got carried away) recap:
IoT isn’t just connectivity — and LoRaWAN isn’t an island.
This week’s Business of LoRaWAN episode digs into the AI + IoT overlap: developer tools, security realities, and what it actually takes to run an IoT org in 2025.
Big thanks to @tfroment from the @EclipseFdn for helping map out the possibilities.
If there’s a part of IoT outside of LoRaWAN you want covered — devops, security, architecture, org-level strategy — tell me. Always happy to go explore and bring back something useful.
The next gen is crushing. I don't know what everyone is so worried about.

This next generation is on fire! Jan-Ole comes out blazing, building systems for schools that allow non-technical people to manage their buildings with LoRaWAN. Very cool!

Using LoRaWAN always comes down to finding a concrete problem that needs what LoRaWAN has. It's simple (not always easy).
In an age of massive bandwidth availability, it can be easy to forget that sometimes you really don't need to send that much data; a simple Goldilocks style message will do. "My porridge is too hot..."
Seeing search trends spike for “IoT data.”
People want to know what to collect, how AI will use it, and what devices can be “IoT’d.”
Interviewing IoT pros for The Business of LoRaWAN has helped me answer a few of these 👇
3️⃣ Anything can be “IoT’d.”
If a device outputs data, it can connect.
✅ LoRaWAN — usually the easiest, most reliable
✅ Wired / WiFi / BLE
✅ Even a tiny phone plan
AI can’t see the world without IoT.
