On Wednesday, I was glad to stop by the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives Annual Meeting in Branson! I appreciated the opportunity to speak with cooperative leaders from across the state. Missouri’s electric cooperatives have a long history of serving rural communities, and that’s something we have in common at the Treasurer’s Office. We’re committed to serving Missourians in every corner of our state and making sure they have access to the resources and opportunities they need. Thank you to Missouri’s electric cooperatives for having me and for all you do for Missouri!

This week we were glad to stop by the ribbon cutting for the Meadows at Wicklow apartment community in Nixa! I appreciated the opportunity to speak and join the Springfield, Ozark, and Nixa Chambers of Commerce, along with O’Reilly Development Company, Russell Construction, and Affinity Property Management, to celebrate this new investment in the community. Projects like this reflect the continued growth we’re seeing across Southwest Missouri and the strong partnerships between our local communities and business leaders that help make that growth possible. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the Meadows at Wicklow to Nixa!

As we continue our tour across Missouri, we made a stop at Nova Center of the Ozarks in Springfield to raise awareness about MO ABLE and the new Trump Accounts. It was great to be joined by local elected officials, community leaders, and Nova’s leadership and staff as we discussed how these programs can help Missourians and their families save for the future and build greater financial security. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to Nova Center of the Ozarks for hosting us and for the important work they do for individuals with disabilities and their families. We’ll keep traveling across the state to make sure Missouri families know about the resources and opportunities available to them.

It was an honor to throw out the first pitch yesterday at Busch Stadium for the Show-Me Softball Showdown! It was great to see teams from the eastern and western sides of Missouri come together at one of our state’s most iconic ballparks for a fun day of competition and community. We also had the opportunity to meet St. Louis Cardinals legend Al Hrabosky, “The Mad Hungarian,” who joined us as a special guest and even signed a baseball for us! Thank you to Greater STL for putting on a great event. I had a great time and was glad to be part of it!

Today I want to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the courage of the first responders who ran into danger to save others. This Patriots Day we remember and reflect on their legacy.

This year’s unclaimed property auction set a record high, reaching a grand total of $674,342, more than doubling our number from last year! I want to thank everyone who participated and our staff and the staff at Johnston Auction for making sure everything ran smoothly.
