How big is one million? 🤯
@GWolf_Science hides a single black sphere among 999,999 others in one bottle to help you picture it. As pennies, those spheres would be worth $10,000, weigh 5,500 pounds, and stack about a mile into the sky. In space, it takes 1.3 million Earths to fill our Sun, and roughly 400 million Suns fit inside the star Betelgeuse, making one million insignificant on the scale of the universe.

The new William and Charlotte Bloomberg Center at the @MuseumofScience in Boston honors @MikeBloomberg’s parents with a space designed to inspire curiosity at every age.
From dinosaur storytimes and hands-on experiments to conversations about space and explorations of New England wildlife, there’s something for everyone to discover.
As a kid, the Museum of Science was one of @MikeBloomberg's greatest teachers - a place where he learned to ask questions, explore big ideas, and discover the world around him.
Earlier this week, he joined Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Cambridge Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui, and Gwill York President of the Museum of Science Tim Ritchie for a tour of the new William and Charlotte Bloomberg Public Science Common.
Through immersive experiences and interactive programming exploring topics like artificial intelligence, public health, climate change, and space exploration, the new space will bring science to life in exciting new ways.
Together, we're helping spark that same sense of curiosity and inspire a lifelong love of science for generations to come.

In many ways, the journey to where I am today started here, counting the rings in this Sequoia tree at the @museumofscience.
This is where my interest in science and problem solving was sparked, and it's my hope that the newly opened William and Charlotte Bloomberg Public Science Common will inspire similar journeys for generations of visitors to come.

Other than my parents, William and Charlotte, the @museumofscience was my greatest early teacher. I'm proud to honor them with the opening of this space for interaction, exploration, and growing curiosity.

Galaxies never sit still, and sometimes their slow-motion collisions sketch something familiar. This Hubble image of NGC 7764A captures a trio of galaxies, two of which are interacting, trailing long streams of stars and gas into the unmistakable shape of the USS Enterprise. NASA Goddard shared it in tribute to Sir Patrick Stewart, who passed away at 86 and whose Captain Picard inspired a generation of real-world explorers. During galactic encounters, their stars rarely collide; instead, the churned-up gas and dust can spark brand new stars, a fitting legacy for someone who helped so many of us look up.
🎃 “Halloween fireballs” are real! The Taurid meteor showers, active around Halloween, come from debris shed by Comet Encke, which circles the sun every 3.3 years, one of the shortest known comet orbits.
The Southern Taurids bring dazzlingly bright fireballs from September 20 to November 20! 🌠
The Taurids are a stream of about five meteors per hour, doubling to ten once the Northern Taurids join in on October 20. About 1% of those meteors are likely to be fireballs, visible from both hemispheres.

What makes a person musical? 🎶
@JacobCollier says musicianship is about craft, control, and command of materials, but being musical is much bigger: if you have a response to music, you’re musical. In music, sensitivity is not only required but rewarded. When we play, listen, or come together, music becomes a refuge that allows our senses to simply sense.
Today we remember Sir Patrick Stewart 🖖
Best known to many as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stewart brought curiosity, compassion, and a sense of wonder to exploring the unknown. From Star Trek to X-Men, his work inspired generations of fans to imagine what might be possible.
His legacy will live long and prosper.
Do you know what oobleck is, and have you ever seen it dance? 🔊
@AlexDainis explains that oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid that’s liquid at rest but solid under pressure. On a subwoofer, the waves of sound push it into towers and shapes that look like they’re dancing. Mix two parts cornstarch with one part water, test different tones, and share your experiments in the comments!
