Our thoughts are with Senator Murphy and his family following his stroke, and we wish him well in his recovery. A stroke can happen to anyone, at any age. We encourage everyone to know the warning signs of stroke. Remember B.E. F.A.S.T.: Balance loss, Eye or vision changes, Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty. If these signs appear suddenly, it’s Time to call 911. Learn more at stroke.org.

Congratulations, Bill, and thank you for your decades of leadership in fighting the tobacco industry’s efforts to addict new generations to its harmful products. @American_Heart has been proud to help create and stand alongside the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids in advancing policies that prevent tobacco and nicotine use and help save lives. Your impact on public health will be felt for generations. We look forward to continuing our shared work with Chris Conley, Melissa Schulman, Yolonda Richardson, and the entire Tobacco Free Kids team.
The Tobacco-Free Kids Action Fund announced today that Bill Novelli is stepping down as chair of the Board of Directors after 30 years in leadership positions at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the Tobacco-Free Kids Action Fund. He will be succeeded by Melissa A. Schulman, Senior Vice President for Government and Public Affairs at CVS Health. Novelli in 1996, with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, founded the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the Tobacco-Free Kids Action Fund. He served as president of the two organizations until December 1999, when Matthew L. Myers succeeded him. Novelli subsequently chaired the two Boards until 2025.

Every girl and woman deserves care that sees her whole heart health picture—from puberty through pregnancy, menopause and beyond. Now, for the first time, @American_Heart, @AmerAcadPeds, @acog, and @MySMFM have united around a shared, science-based framework and clinical guidance to identify cardiovascular risk, act earlier and save women’s lives. My heartfelt thanks to @HeartDocSadiya for chairing this first-of-its-kind collaborative, and to the extraordinary clinicians who contributed their deep expertise and leadership to changing the future of women’s health. I spent an incredible evening with 22 entrepreneurs who aren't waiting for a healthier future. They're building it.   At the @American_Heart's Empowered to Serve Business Accelerator showcase, I met innovators whose ideas come straight from the communities they serve. They see gaps others miss, and they know what it takes to close them.   Congratulations to our winners, who received funding to help grow their businesses. My heartfelt thanks to @HamlinIsland and Bert Scott for your leadership, to the @WellsFargo Foundation for your incredible generosity and to @MATTERhealth for hosting such a special night.

Looking back at last year’s Scientific Sessions, I’m reminded how quickly science can advance when we work together.   Over the past year, @American_Heart, alongside the @ACCinTouch, @AmDiabetesAssn and @ASNKidney, released the first-ever clinical practice guideline for cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome. The guideline provides a more coordinated approach to earlier risk identification, prevention and whole-person care by recognizing the connections among cardiovascular, kidney and metabolic health.   I’m proud of this progress and grateful to our volunteers, collaborators and healthcare community who make it possible. As we look ahead to #ScientificSessions26, I’m excited to build on this momentum, continue these important conversations and explore how we can better meet patients where they are. professional.heart.org/en/sc…

Women’s health needs to evolve throughout life, and our science and care must evolve with them. I’m encouraged by today’s focus on turning research and innovation into better prevention, diagnosis and treatment. With sustained investment, we can build on this momentum and help women everywhere live longer, healthier lives.
Today’s executive order advancing women’s health across all phases of life is an important step toward closing longstanding gaps in research and care. We welcome its focus on translating research into better prevention, diagnosis and treatment, including for heart disease and stroke. whitehouse.gov/briefings-sta…

The future of heart and brain health is being shaped by the work happening around the world, including here in Beijing. At the Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology, I’ve been energized by the ideas, research and collaboration driving advances in prevention, innovation and better health for all, as well as the opportunity to connect with U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue @USAmbChina. By working across borders and bringing different perspectives to the table, we can turn shared ideas into meaningful progress. My heartfelt thanks to Mao Chen, President of the 37th GW-ICC/AHS, the Asian Heart Society and all the leaders who made this special gathering possible.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, my heart always turns to my beautiful mom, Claire, whom we lost to metastatic breast cancer in 2011. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. This photo of the two of us brings back so many wonderful memories and reminds me how precious our time together was — and how much I wish we would have had more of it. This month, I honor her memory and the extraordinary organizations working every day to give more families more time with the people they love. My work at the @American_Heart has taught me that while our missions may focus on different diseases, we are united by something much bigger — the belief that everyone deserves more time, more memories and more moments with those they love. My heartfelt thanks to the @AmericanCancer, @SusanGKomen, and so many others advancing research, improving care and bringing hope to everyone touched by breast cancer. For my mom, and for every family wishing they had just a little more time. ♥️

Together with the @NFL, we’re continuing to build a Nation of Lifesavers™. The 2026 Ambassador Class is stepping up to learn Hands-Only CPR and help inspire lifesaving action when every second counts. Join me in welcoming this year’s outstanding ambassadors.
Meet the @NFL players helping us build a #NationOfLifesavers. More than half of people who experience cardiac arrest outside a hospital do not receive immediate CPR. That's why we're teaming up with the National Football League and the 2026 Nation of Lifesavers™ Ambassador Class to help more people learn Hands-Only CPR and be ready to act when every second counts. Take 60 seconds to learn the two simple steps of Hands-Only CPR. If a teen or adult collapses, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives. If performed immediately, CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival. Our 2026 Nation of Lifesavers Ambassador Class: • Arizona Cardinals: Kaleb Proctor, defensive tackle • Atlanta Falcons: Josh Woods, linebacker • Baltimore Ravens: Keyon Martin, cornerback • Buffalo Bills: Damar Hamlin, safety • Carolina Panthers: Sam Martin, punter • Chicago Bears: Josh Blackwell, defensive tackle • Cincinnati Bengals: Kris Jenkins Jr., defensive tackle • Cleveland Browns: Denzel Ward, cornerback • Dallas Cowboys: Tyler Booker, guard • Denver Broncos: Kris Abrams-Draine, cornerback • Detroit Lions: Skyler Gill-Howard, defensive tackle • Green Bay Packers: Kristian Welch, linebacker • Houston Texans: Jaylin Noel, wide receiver • Indianapolis Colts: Austin Ajiake, linebacker • Jacksonville Jaguars: Wesley Williams, defensive end • Kansas City Chiefs: Trey Smith, guard • Las Vegas Raiders: Caleb Rogers, guard • Los Angeles Chargers: Alex Harkey, guard • Los Angeles Rams: Jordan Whittington, wide receiver • Miami Dolphins: Zayne Anderson, safety • Minnesota Vikings: Jalen Redmond, defensive lineman • New England Patriots: Demario Douglas, wide receiver • New Orleans Saints: Justin Reid, safety • New York Giants: Devin Singletary, running back • New York Jets: Sterling Shepard, wide receiver & Troy Reeder, linebacker • Philadelphia Eagles: E.J. Jenkins, tight end • Pittsburgh Steelers: Germie Bernard, wide receiver • San Francisco 49ers: Garret Wallow, linebacker • Seattle Seahawks: Charles Cross, offensive tackle • Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Dean Patterson, wide receiver • Tennessee Titans: Chimere Dike, wide receiver • Washington Commanders: Jaylin Lane, wide receiver

Medical research gives patients hope, advances new treatments and strengthens communities. So pleased to see so many leaders and volunteers alongside @American_Heart Volunteer President @manesh_patelMD in Washington, D.C., advocating for independent science and continued support of medical research.
Advocates gathered on Capitol Hill to share why medical research matters for patients, families and communities nationwide. Every breakthrough starts with research. @RallyforNIH #FundNIH Heartpowered.org/SaveScience

Through innovative digital health tools, the ACCESS Model will make it easier for patients to receive the care they need and clinicians to provide effective treatment. This type of connected care is key to improving cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) health. By recognizing CKM as a syndrome of interconnected conditions, we can move toward earlier detection, more coordinated treatment and better outcomes for the 89M+ people at risk in the U.S. @american_heart
For the millions of people living with cardiovascular, kidney and metabolic conditions, high-quality care requires more than clinical insightFor the millions of people living with cardiovascular, kidney and metabolic conditions, high-quality care requires more than clinical insight — it calls for coordinated, system-wide action. The @CMSinnovates new ACCESS Model will expand evidence-based, technology-enabled care that helps patients better prevent and manage chronic diseases while supporting clinicians who care for them. #CKMHealth heart.org/en/professional/ca…
