A handwritten note means more than a printed one, even when the words are the same. Psychologists call it the effort heuristic. We value things more when we think effort went into them. So when people find out a post was made in seconds, it carries less weight. Use AI to move faster, but make sure your perspective is still in it.

If I had to build a twenty-thousand-dollar-a-month business tomorrow, with only five hundred dollars in my pocket, here's exactly how I'd do it.
First, I'd pick the market. And I'd only ask one question: Who loses money every single time they miss a phone call?
Restaurants? No, the orders are too small. Law firms? No, lawsuits take time so callers can wait. Plumbers, roofers, HVAC? Yes.
Because the owner is on a ladder with his hands full. Every job is worth hundreds. And every city has dozens of them.
I'd pick HVAC, because when the AC dies in a heatwave, nobody waits. Then, before I spend a single dollar, I'd call twenty HVAC companies at 6 PM. And count how many go to voicemail.
That number would be my sales pitch: "I called you last night. You didn't answer. But neither did fourteen of your competitors."
Now I build it. I’d pick something like my partner's at HighLevel which would cost me about $300 to set up the entire back end. AI answers the call, books the job, texts the tech on call.
But…I won't sell them AI. I’d sell "you'll never miss an emergency call again." A thousand dollars a month. Three saved jobs and it's paid for itself.
Once its built I’d copy the setup to the next HVAC company. And the next.
Twenty of them is twenty thousand a month. And I'd still have two hundred dollars left.
The tech is the easy part. Picking the right market is the whole business.
GEO results change daily... even for the same prompt.
Your goal isn't just to optimize to become the chosen company, you also need to defend your position.
Here's where you have the most defensible position.
If AI helps you create more content that nobody reads, you haven’t saved time. You’ve wasted it faster.
My team studied 100 companies. AI-generated content made up 52.1% of what they published, but it brought in just 4.9% of their organic traffic. At the same time, Google, LinkedIn, Snapchat and YouTube have all started pushing back on generic, mass-produced content.
In this video, I break down why AI slop is getting filtered out, what the research says about how people react to content they know a machine made, and what the content that still breaks through has in common. If you’re publishing more than ever and getting less for it, this is where to start.
Everyone told you to fix schema first. The biggest study on this found it barely moves the needle. What matters is your reputation. How many reviews you have. How recent they are. Whether you reply. Who’s mentioning you on YouTube, in threads, in the news.

When it comes to GEO this is where smaller brands can compete.
Focus on the low-hanging fruit first.
The best edge case keywords almost never show up at the top of a volume report. They’re in four places you already have. Your sales calls. Your support tickets. The final objection before someone buys. Google Search Console. Start there. Then open the tool.

NP Digital surveyed 600 marketers. Nearly 1 in 5 had lots of software and little connecting it. That’s how you end up paying for everything and getting the full value of nothing. The fix is simple. Pick the right tool for each job, integrate them, and cancel the ones you don’t need.

This is what makes GEO harder for small brands.
Make sure you focus on some of the hardest areas, like getting more mentions, as this is what will set you apart from the competition.
Edge cases tend to bring in your biggest clients. Get specific and you can often rank faster, pay less per click, and end up as the only real option when the search narrows. A page that says “for multi-location dental groups” makes the right visitor stop and pay attention.

That’s the only question that matters now. People aren’t clicking through websites anymore. AI reads them for you and tells you who to choose. If it’s naming your competitor, that’s where your customers went. Put your URL into the AI Visibility report on Ubersuggest and see where you stack up.

Only 2% of smaller brands can connect GEO efforts to revenue.
Although that's the ultimate goal, that's not where you should start.
Look at how far brands are getting on average. Work on improving each step as much as you can.
Gary Halbert used to ask his students a question. If you opened a burger stand and could have one advantage over every competitor, what would you pick? Better meat. Better location. Lower prices. He’d take a starving crowd. Give him hungry people and the burger almost doesn’t matter.

AI should handle a lot of your business. Not all of it. Basic customer questions, qualifying leads, booking appointments? Let AI do it while you sleep. Big deals, angry customers, where your company goes next? That’s a human job. People don’t want to be sold by AI, especially when it’s a lot of money.

GEO is all about answering questions better than your competitors.
The better your answers, the more likely you are to be included in the answer.
Here's where your larger competitors are most likely to give poor answers. This is where you should focus.
Low volume doesn’t mean low value. The keywords that convert often look small on paper. Specific searches come from people who already know what they want. Go where your competition isn’t looking.

You don’t need more content. You need the right content. Costs. Timelines. Financing. Mistakes to avoid. Repair or replace. Your customers ask all of it before they ever call you, and most websites only cover a few.

This is where smaller brands are showcasing their expertise and how often.
Assuming you have good information to put out, your goal should be at least weekly.
Your keyword tool shows a dash where the volume should be. So you skip it. That’s a mistake. In our data, six-word searches converted at 1.94% and searches with seven or more words held at 1.83%. One-word searches? 0.17%. Low volume doesn’t mean low value.

10/10 ways to find out if AI knows your business, but each one gets progressively more revealing.
Google yourself. Old school but if you're not on page one for your own name, AI won't find you either.
Ask ChatGPT who you are. Type your business name. If it says "I'm not familiar with that business"… that's your answer.
Ask it what your customers ask. For example type in "Best plumber in Austin." Either your name shows up… or your competitor's does.
Ask five AIs, not one. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google's AI Mode. They don't agree. You can be famous on one and invisible on the other four.
Test fifty questions. Your customers don't all ask the same way. "Cheapest." "Best for families." "Open late." Every one can give a different answer.
And the one most people never do… Track it every week, against your competitors, because the answer keeps changing.
That's what Ubersuggest's AI Search Visibility does. It will tell you your score, your rank against competitors, and the exact questions where AI names them instead of you.
