I think pretty much everyone reading this can agree that the United Kingdom’s Brexit negotiations were not safe in @DavidGHFrost ‘s hands.
Two of these concerts shouldn't be in the Proms at all.
The @bbcproms are not safe in the BBC's hands.
Now I never knew this @auroraorchestra being a week older than @YouTube makes me feel a little….old
Replying to @nicholascollon @auroraorchestra
Congratulations Nick! You’re one week older than YouTube, it turns out.

HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY to @auroraorchestra !!! 😌🎉🥳 I had no clue of course that our first concert back in 2005 would be the beginning of something that would still be here today. So many amazing memories. So many people to be grateful to. Here’s to another 20!
So many treasures to see at Ainola, the house for 50 years of Jean and Aino Sibelius. And I was allowed to rummage around upstairs(!) - amused to see a score of Walton’s opera on his shelf. I’m not sure he opened it many times. Many scores of Bach and Beethoven however…

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.
This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.

ALT A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Wow. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde fearlessly calls out Trump and Vance to their faces. This is heroic.
For those within the EU (!) I’ve made a 5-part TV documentary: conversations with Finnish conductors about…. conducting. 😊The wonderful #PekkaKuusisto @DaliaStasevska @MalkkiConductor @esapekkasalonen @hlintu were brilliant. areena.yle.fi/1-71023552?utm…
Tonight 7pm @BBCFourTV a repeat from 2012 of @auroraorchestra ‘s @bbcproms with #WallaceandGromit . I even got to have a telephone chat with Wallace. Nice chap
The remarkable Herbert Blomstedt conducting the wonderful @Yle_Rso in Mahler 9 this week. Is there any other profession where a 97-year old can share their experience and knowledge in such an enriching way? yle.fi/aihe/tapahtuma/2024/1…
With the US election hanging in the balance, here’s a fitting photo I took last week on top of a Swiss Alp, 2000m above Lake Lucerne
Off to 🇺🇸 for the US election (and a visit to the @SFSymphony ). Exciting times

I’m late to the party but @VikingurMusic ‘s Goldbergs recording is the bee’s knees. A piece about which I have strong and subjective ideas and desires. At every point they have been questioned. And at every point I have been thrilled. What a triumph
What a fabulous piece this is, by @Thomas_ades
