We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026).

To encourage incentive-compatible reporting, countries that report novel variants (and are subject to travel bans potentially as a consequence) should receive some sort of international aid, priority in vaccine shipments, and other health benefits as needed for domestic use.

There are more Trump voters in California than Texas, more Biden voters in Texas than NY, more Trump voters in NY than Ohio, more Biden voters in Ohio than Massachusetts, more Trump voters in Massachusetts than Mississippi, and more Biden voters in Mississippi than Vermont.
Okay, so I know the “I’m a Republican but I voted for Biden” narrative isn’t popular. But I talked with a lot of life-long Republicans who voted for Biden while I was canvassing in the Philly suburbs 🤷♂️.
Kind of interesting signal from the competing town halls right now:
- Biden has ~240,000 YouTube Live watchers
- Trump has ~130,000 YouTube Live watchers
Most voting intent polls survey ~1,000 people, and with balancing demographics, can get a pretty accurate idea of voting intent.
But this new @pewresearch poll samples TEN THOUSAND people, and has Biden +10.
Huge sample.

I’m happy to report that Jill and I have tested negative for COVID. Thank you to everyone for your messages of concern. I hope this serves as a reminder: wear a mask, keep social distance, and wash your hands.
This is likely a classic example of a framing problem.
Most people who advocate for this mean “shift some funding away from police to other services,” but I bet many who were surveyed interpreted this “eliminate funding to police.”
😔
Do you think that the police should be defunded or not defunded?
Defunded 28%
Not defunded 72%

“Game On”? You mean “Finally catching up with the rest of the world only after 130,000 of your own people died”?

Today reminds us that progress might be slow. It might take decades. But no matter what things might look like today, it’s always possible. Happy Pride month, everybody.
