In 2018, shortly after getting married, my wife and I decided it was time to do the “responsible adult” thing: sit down with a financial planner and get our long-term roadmap in order. At the time, bitcoin had already become a substantial portion of our net worth. We booked a meeting with a large, reputable advisory firm. Ten minutes into the introductory call, the reality set in: they didn’t understand bitcoin, they hadn’t done the homework, and it was clear that the immediate recommendation was going to be to “rebalance,” selling the hardest money for a generic portfolio. I did what countless Bitcoiners end up doing: I hid my bitcoin net worth from the advisor. We walked away. And looking back years later, selling our bitcoin in 2018 would have been a devastating financial mistake. For years, Bitcoiners have faced a frustrating dilemma: either deal with legacy advisors who urge you to sell, or go it alone with zero tax strategy, estate planning, or generational wealth guidance. You shouldn't have to hide your wealth from the very fiduciary hired to help protect it. That’s why I couldn’t be more excited to share my next chapter: I’m stepping in as Chief Marketing Officer at Verify Wealth. At Verify Wealth, we believe financial advice needs an upgrade. Bitcoiners deserve comprehensive, fiduciary wealth management from experts who actually speak their language, understand real custody and security, and know how to integrate bitcoin seamlessly alongside traditional assets, tax strategies, and legacy planning. We’re building the modern wealth firm for the next era of finance. If you’ve ever had to leave your bitcoin off the balance sheet when talking to a financial professional, your new home is here.
Introducing the Verify Wealth Team: @phil_geiger, CMO Phil is one of the most respected operators and educators in bitcoin. He's teaming up for the second time with Owner and Lead Advisor Jessy Gilger to scale bitcoin-native financial planning for high-conviction holders. While he won’t be advising clients directly, as CMO he’ll focus on educating people at the intersection of bitcoin and financial planning. Phil has been professionally dedicated to putting keys in as many hands as possible since 2017. That same conviction now comes to Verify Wealth: financial planning built around how bitcoin actually behaves, with privacy-first communications, coordinated tax/inheritance/custody work, and flat-fee planning that doesn’t scale with your stack.

Mao Zedong's Great Leap Forward killed an estimated 45 million people between 1958 and 1962, and the backyard steel furnace campaign sits at the center of that catastrophe as a textbook case of central planning consuming itself alive. Mao's logic was simple. If the Soviet Union had industrialized through state-directed production, China would do it faster and bigger. He ordered peasants across every province to smelt steel in small furnaces built on collective land. Party officials set output quotas with no reference to the resources, skills or demand that actually existed. Farmers melted down their own plows, woks and door hinges to hit the numbers, and stripped hillsides bare for fuel. What came out of those furnaces was mostly pig iron so brittle it had no industrial use. The quotas got reported as fulfilled, the statistics traveled up the command chain, and Beijing celebrated a triumph that existed only on paper. Think about what those farmers abandoned to stand at furnaces all day. By most estimates, the 1958 harvest was decent. With the rural labor force diverted to smelting, the crops rotted unharvested in the fields. Free market economists call this opportunity cost: every hour a farmer spent producing worthless slag was an hour not spent producing food. Had anyone been allowed to use the price system, it would have made that tradeoff visible at once, because prices signal scarcity. Planners issue directives and wait for reality to disobey them. Local officials who reported shortfalls faced execution or the labor camps, so they reported surpluses. Beijing then exported grain, partly to pay its debts to the Soviet Union and partly to project an image of socialist success, while provinces like Anhui and Sichuan descended into mass starvation. The state had monopolized food distribution, so when the numbers were wrong, there was no private market or informal trade left to move grain to the dying. The apparatus built to feed people became the mechanism that starved them. Abolish private property and price signals, and you get 45 million corpses and a generation of Chinese children stunted by famine.

Bitcoin is not going to “out-tech” fiat stablecoins. We’re not one payment UX breakthrough away from overcoming them. Bitcoin will replace fiat because it’s harder and freer money. As long as stablecoins are effectively censorship-resistant (not much longer), bitcoin’s primary competitive advantage is simply that it’s harder. So focus on that.

"Remember, remember, the 5th of November." To bitcoiners, Guy Fawkes Day isn't about gunpowder, it's a symbol of cypherpunk rebellion and peaceful monetary revolution. No violence, no rulers, just pure math separating money from the state. Ideas are bulletproof. Code is absolute.

A lot of bitcoiners don't care about the government, but the government certainly cares about bitcoiners. You can bucket your sats into different tax-advantaged accounts to protect your wealth.
Jessy breaks down why tax-free accounts matter more than ever, and why they’re so hard for politicians to take away once they exist. You fixed the money. Let’s fix the plan. verifywealth.com From @CitizenX webinar with Katie @PlanBPassport and @phil_geiger

Rode my second Cyclocross race of the season on my new @iamspecialized Crux on Halloween. This course was SO fun! Loved this bunny hoppable box, and the spooky Halloween section right after, which included shrieking children throwing plastic ball pit balls at the riders 😂🎃

The @vrfywealth advisors can help you give bitcoin to family or charity efficiently from a tax standpoint. If you're staring at a large 2026 tax bill, book a free 30 minute call at verifywealth.com to review your financial situation with a bitcoin CFP®
A lot of bitcoiners picture a future where they share it with family or causes they believe in. There are limits and rules on both. But giving the bitcoin itself, instead of selling first and handing over cash, can change the tax picture in a big way. If part of the plan is giving to family or a cause you care about, how you give matters as much as how much. Hear the full conversation with @WalkerAmerica on @titcoinpodcast. Link in the comments.

Not a drill: shut down your BTCPay Server if you have a hot wallet. Appreciate the reposts 🙏
🚨 We are receiving reports of hot wallets on BTCPay Servers being swept by unauthorized attackers. If you're running an instance, please shut it down (./btcpay-down.sh) until we complete the investigation.

Some Saturdays aren’t about getting ahead, they are about making memories. What are you guys doing to Stack a Saturday this Halloween?
Some Saturdays aren't about getting ahead. They're about slowing down. Time with the people who matter most is the best kind of stacking. Stacking Sats is great, but what are you doing to stack your Saturdays? Stay Humble, Stack Saturdays.
