A memorial commemorating the victims of October 7 should have a place here in New York City. The proposed site at the Mickey Kairey Garden in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn, would serve to honor the victims and educate future generations.
As home to the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, October 7 is deeply personal. Many New Yorkers spent the day waiting for word from loved ones, knowing someone who was there, searching for someone who was missing, or grieving someone who would never come home. Nearly 1200 people were killed and 251 taken hostage in the attack. May their memory be a blessing.

My heart is with every New Jerseyan still grieving the horrific October 7th terrorist attacks. Three years ago, Hamas murdered 1,200 innocent people and took 251 hostages, including New Jersey's Edan Alexander.
Even as time passes, the pain endures. People across our state are still grappling with the violence of that day and the years that followed.
New Jerseyans stand together in mourning the lives lost, rejecting antisemitism and all other forms of hate, and continuing our work to make sure every community can live and worship in peace.

QUEENS SHMIRA ASSISTS WITH PUBLIC SAFETY AT QUEENS UNITY SUKKOS CONCERT
Queens Shmira, alongside the NYPD, @FlatbushShmira and @BoroParkShmira , assisted with public safety and crowd control during the 5th Annual Queens Unity Sukkos Concert.
The event took place Tuesday night at Main Street & 72nd Drive near Haym Salomon Square, featuring Aryeh Kunstler and Shimon Deri, with hundreds of community members in attendance.
Members worked alongside NYPD officers throughout the evening to help maintain a safe and orderly environment for all attendees.

Queens #Shmira responded to a hotline call on the opening day of the #USOPEN regarding vandalism and defacement at the Yitzhak Rabin Walk Grove in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
Our members promptly responded and cleaned and buffed the marbleized inscription and scripture located at the entrance of the walkway, helping restore the area’s appearance. Members also cleaned and polished the nearby United Nations recognition monument located near the entrance of the @QueensMuseum .
