Social media allows us to publish comments with the push of a button. More than ever we need to read and meditate on Scripture, and examine our hearts and habits. We need to be slower to anger and slower to speak, and quicker to hear and think biblically. ref.ly/Jm1.19

Charles Spurgeon, who fought depression most of his life and found great comfort in animals, wrote tenderly to his wife Susannah about their beloved dog Punch. Visitors also often spoke of the Spurgeons’ affection for animals. epm.org/resources/2026/Nov/2…

Since God, His Word, and people are eternal, what will last is what’s used wisely for God, His Word, and His people. “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23, NIV).

If you’re a servant of God, and somebody treats you like a servant, you don’t claim your rights and get indignant about it. You’re called to be a servant! Jesus was called to be a servant and has given us an example that we should follow in His footsteps. ref.ly/Mk10.44f

God has a literal lifetime of good works laid out for us (Ephesians 2:10). Instead of burdening us, this should excite us! He has purposes, sometimes hidden, in every person and opportunity that crosses our paths. epm.org/resources/2026/Oct/3…

Love and wrath are not opposites. Because God is love, He hates sin as the poison that spoiled His good creation and continues to devastate lives. God will judge evil one last time (Revelation 20:11‑15). On the New Earth, His anger will never be seen again (Revelation 21:4).

Somehow, in God’s mysterious and gracious economy, we remain forever connected to what we give and to the people we bless. God sees it and forgets nothing. No cup of water given in Jesus’ name is wasted. No act of generosity done for His glory disappears. ref.ly/Mt10.42

The “spiritualized” thinking goes, Care nothing about your happiness; devote your life to making others happy. The biblical and realistic thinking is, You can make others, God, and yourself happy at the same time—by serving others. epm.org/resources/2026/Oct/2…

After saying we should take up our crosses to follow Him, Jesus taught, “If you give up your life for my sake, you will save it” (Matthew 16:25, NLT). This is like being offered ownership of Coca-Cola in exchange for a bag of empty pop cans. Only fools would pass up the offer.

May we never lose sight of our highest destiny, to see Jesus face to face. And may we pass that vision to those around us, including our children and grandchildren. “Beloved,…we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2, ESV).

I had a great time talking with Melissa Kruger and Courtney Doctor on their podcast from The Gospel Coalition called The Deep Dish. We discussed the New Earth, and also covered some questions about animals related to my new book All God’s Creatures. epm.org/resources/2026/Oct/2…

Our culture is full of animal-loving people who do not love God. If we shared with them a biblical worldview with a God-affirming love for animals and a vision for their eternal futures on a New Earth, how many would be more open to hearing the gospel? ref.ly/Ge9.9f

Why does death disturb us so much? Because we instinctively know we were made to live forever (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Wise people consider what awaits us on the other side of this short life—either Heaven or Hell—and prepare accordingly. ref.ly/Jb14.2

In context, the Apostle Paul is warning us not to let bodily appetites rule us, because the body is for the Lord, not for sin. He is not claiming that resurrected people will never eat on the New Earth. epm.org/resources/2026/Oct/2…

Once God resurrects His children, the entire cosmos will be renewed as well—every planet, star, and galaxy. The Curse will be gone. Entropy will cease. Even perfection will be dynamic, like a masterpiece ever improved by the artist’s brush. ref.ly/Pr8.27-31

Scripture confronts sin in our lives, prompts us to obedience, and gives us delight in Christ. Go to God’s Word, open it, read it, meditate on it, and learn to delight in it. It makes us better, deeper, and happier people. “I love God’s law with all my heart” (Romans 7:22, NLT).
