Johnathan had a tough start in life, coming from an area with a high level of deprivation. He left school at 15 without any qualifications. This damaged his confidence and self-belief.
That changed when he found Read Easy. Read his story: readeasy.org.uk/success-stor…

Happy #NationalLiteracyDay!
Why not call Maureen, our Volunteer Recruiter? Ask her how you could bring #literacy into the life of an adult who cannot read in just an hour a week (after training).

Fantastic interview with @ReadWythenshawe's new patron @KarenWoodsBooks:
"It's opened so many doors for me ... if anyone is struggling or thinking about [learning to read], you're going to reach your goals just like I did."
@KarenWoodsBooks has written 25 novels since she learnt to read at 39. Listen to what it means to her and why she's so pleased to be our Patron and encourage others to learn to read. @ReadEasyUK @HarperNorthUK

Today's #MondayMotivation comes from Natalie, a #volunteer #Reading Coach, who gets lots of satisfaction from helping her Reader to develop their skills and progress through the programme.

For many of us reading is a skill we take for granted, but there are 2.4 million adults in England alone who can barely read or cannot read at all.
In practical terms this means that they couldn't read road signs, household bills, menus in restaurants or letters from school.
Great news! 🥳 We’ve appointed a long-awaited Third Coordinator!
Our Coordinators work so hard to look after our Reading Pairs, a third will enable our continued growth.
We now need a new Treasurer and Venues Organiser to join our friendly team…. Are they out there? Hello? 😃
Come on East Lancs! Can’t wait to see another Read Easy group in Lancashire.
Please rt this public meeting.
