These are not the same thing. The convention Eric July was appearing at is an established convention that he latched onto. Even so, he had about twenty people come to see him.
For the Fans Fest is a convention in it's FIRST YEAR exclusively built by and for ComicsGate, for indie comic creators.
I have been to literally hundreds of comic conventions in my lifetime, and seen the beginning of shows that become regular events. For The Fans Fest 2026 looked exactly like some of those conventions.

FOR THE FANS FEST ROUNDUP
Juli and I just got back from a wonderful weekend with friends and fans. Don’t listen to the haters that weren’t there. This convention was amazing.
Yes, the attendance was small (first time show!) but it was quality over quantity. Everyone that showed up was there to meet and engage with their favorite indie creators. There were no tourists looking to see a wrestler, or a 1970’s has-been actor. Everyone was there to talk comics, engage with creators and have a good time. And a good time was had by all.
I sold more product, and did more commissions in 1 day Than 3 days at Boston Con.
We had a huge turnout for my cigar party Saturday night, and wonderful dinners with fans. I met folks that came from as far away as the U.K. and British Columbia just to be there.
CG fans are amazing people. This is the beginning of something great and unique.
I was also honored to receive a Warlock Lifetime Achievement award at the Friday night banquet (which was a hoot, by the way). I now have a Wizard and a Warlock Award!
Thank you @RumerMatt and @WarlockComics, @CallMeClippa and the rest of the team for your hard work putting this together.
Can’t wait for the next one!

To review, this year ComicsGate made it's own functional crowdfunding site, BACKMEBRO.com, and just successfully held it's first official meet up/convention!

Huge thanks to every backer who helped push Inglorious Rex4 over 83k! I've been have been having an absolute blast at For the Fans Fest this weekend in Atlantic City, meeting fans, showing off the books, and meeting creators in IRL. Thank you @WarlockComics for putting on the awards!
Most importantly I thank the fans for the awards and your support.
Con covers will stay up a few more days while I stream.
