América Latina y el Caribe tiene una oportunidad histórica de volver a liderar Naciones Unidas. Pero no basta con reivindicar la rotación regional. Importa también qué liderazgo ofrecemos y qué estamos dispuestos a cambiar.
Comparto la Declaración de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC) a la membresia de Naciones Unidas y al Consejo de Seguridad.
La ONU necesita reconstruir confianza, anticiparse a las crisis y convertir las reformas en resultados. Conozco la Organización desde dentro, sus fortalezas y sus límites. Sé que cambiarla exige algo más que buenas intenciones: requiere construir acuerdos, tomar decisiones difíciles y llevarlas a la práctica.
Esa es la experiencia que aporto y la responsabilidad que estoy dispuesta a asumir.
Mis condolencias a las familias de las personas fallecidas en el choque de trenes en la provincia de Toledo, España.
Mi solidaridad con los heridos y con quienes siguen esperando noticias de sus seres queridos.
Todo mi respeto a los equipos de emergencia y sanitarios que continúan trabajando en el lugar.

L’ONU ne tient pas sa promesse la plus fondamentale. C’est pourquoi la réforme est au cœur de ce processus.
Pour moi, la réforme consiste à faire en sorte que l’ONU remplisse efficacement sa mission fondamentale, qui est de maintenir la paix.
Lorsqu’a eu lieu la dernière élection au poste de Secrétaire général, on dénombrait plus de 130 000 morts par an dans des conflits. L'an dernier, on estime que ce chiffre s’est élevé à 240 000.

Las Naciones Unidas no están cumpliendo con su promesa más fundamental. Por eso, su reforma es esencial en este proceso.
Para mí, la reforma consiste en hacer que las Naciones Unidas sean eficaces en la labor para la cual fueron creadas. Esa labor es la paz.
Durante la última contienda por el cargo de Secretario General, se registraban más de 130.000 muertes anuales por conflictos. El año pasado, se estima que perdieron la vida más de 240.000 personas.
Las Naciones Unidas necesitan cambiar de manera estructural, cultural y operativa. Debemos reformarnos para garantizar la paz.

The United Nations is not delivering on its most fundamental promise. This is why reform is at the heart of this process.
For me, reform is about enabling the United Nations to be effective at the job it was created to do. That job is peace.
When the last Secretary-General race took place, over 130,000 conflict deaths were recorded annually. Last year, more than 240,000 were estimated to have lost their lives.
The United Nations needs to change, structurally, culturally and operationally. We must reform to deliver peace.
