We had 4 book launches at @Ahrefs Evolve (which is kind of crazy). Here's a shoutout to all four, starting from the bottom one: 📕 "Generative Engine Optimization" by Ross Hudgens / @RossHudgens Haven't read it yet myself, but I've known Ross for many years and have absolutely ZERO doubts that he's poured his best GEO advice into this book. As someone deep in the trenches of this industry, I can't afford not to read it. So it's next on my list. [available for purchase on Amazon] 📗 "Zero Click Marketing" by Rand Fishkin & Amanda Natividad / @randfish & @amandanat Just finished this one a few days ago. The authors need no introduction, and this book is packed with their best thinking on how digital marketing has changed in the past few years, and what you should do to adjust. Data-driven and very entertaining. [available for purchase on its own website] 📘 "ASAP: As SLOW as Possible" by Ann Handley / @MarketingProfs This book is about knowing when to slow down in a world that's obsessed with shortcuts, especially now that AI makes the fastest path look like the smartest one. Ann is one of the true OGs of marketing, so I have no doubt her new book is worth your time. It's not even out yet, so I had to improvise with the cover. 😅 By the way, we still have a few dozen pre-order copies of Ann's book to give away. 🎁 If you're in the US and want one, drop your state in the comments and we'll DM you a link to get "ASAP" for free. [available as a free gift, see above] 📙 "DISCOVERABLE" by Tim Soulo / @timsoulo My book is: - 60% - first principles of marketing that I've developed over 15 years of doing it - 20% - stories of how we bootstrapped Ahrefs to $150M+ in ARR - 20% - lessons from world's best marketers that inspire me My goal with this book was to crystallize all of my marketing knowledge into a set of common-sense principles that will survive any platform shifts and algorithm changes. Once you read it, you'll understand how my "marketing brain" works and how I make decisions. [available for pre-order on Amazon] -- P.S. Writing a book is a grueling task. And the best reward is seeing people actually read it. So I'm here to support my fellow marketing friends with their book launches. 👏

My esteemed industry colleagues @Kevin_Indig, @Marie_Haynes, and Ben Foster (from @seoworks) all published studies this week (and @RandFish amplified them). The four parties landed on the same conclusion: AI search doesn’t send traffic, so stop worrying about it. They’re right about the first part. I believe they’re wrong about everything that follows from it. Kevin has said on stage that AI is a visibility play and not a traffic play. Marie’s own data shows ChatGPT referrals falling while ChatGPT’s audience tripled, which has a very different explanation than the one she gave it. And Rand has a book coming out called Zero Click Marketing. Grading AI search on referral traffic is how you end up telling a CMO that the place where a billion people a week ask what to buy is a distraction. Nobody has ever attributed a billboard. The industry that spent twenty years tying every dollar to a click is now the only part of marketing that can’t recognize a brand channel when it’s staring at one. Here are my thoughts 👇🏾 ipullrank.com/ai-search-is-a…

When it comes to solving problems through collaboration: Leverage the Power of Four. From the Four Humours to the Beatles, four distinct perspectives can unlock creativity and brilliance. In this study at DMI, teams met to solve a problem. When they had four perspectives in the room, they made progress 80% of the time. When they met in silos, meetings resulted in more meetings, not progress. It's not a matter of how many people you assemble, but the mix of their views of the playing field. Could be: * Sales * Customer Success * Product * Finance When approaching a complex high-quality deal problem. Whatever you do, ask yourself: "Who is missing here?"

Watching San Francisco tonight with Kyle Shanahan perfectly coaching this team to a 6-0 record, my heart can only hurt as a Cowboys fan. Jerry Jones could never hire a guy like Kyle. No way. Yes, he had Bill Parcells, but that was a different time and a different era. And when you watch how San Francisco is meticulously coached, you realize what a difference it makes, and why strategy is always more important than tactics. And when you bet, you always bet the jockey and not the horse.

AI fluency enables one to leverage technology to be more responsive to customers and more efficient with their precious time and energy. Knowing how to reframe a traditional business problem, think bottleneck, into a prediction problem (something addressable by an AI) is the foundation of AI fluency. The culmination of AI fluency is understanding exactly when to apply purely human efforts, augmented human efforts, or purely AI efforts within one's workflow.

Hitting the road for a long week of travel. Sadly, left my Cowboys gear at home. They played so poorly last night, I don't want strangers in airports to tell me how bad they feel for me. Those of us that are still fans are clearly delusional and self-abusing at this point.
