The Hornets are retiring the third jersey in franchise history, as Muggsy Bogues will see his #1 jersey raised to the rafters in February. "They got me," Muggsy says, of the surprising way the Hornets let him know. For @theobserver: charlotteobserver.com/sports…

Marcus Paige, now an assistant at Charlotte, will see his worlds collide tonight when the 49ers go to Chapel Hill to face UNC in an exhibition. Paige is also the latest to sit down for our "Sports Legends of the Carolinas" interview. Here's a FREE link: charlotteobserver.com/sports…

Taylor Moton out for the year (ankle surgery)

New @theobserver column for Monday: The Panthers can't spend any time licking their wounds. They play at Green Bay in prime time Thursday, where all sorts of things are going to need to change. charlotteobserver.com/sports…

Thoughts on that 30-point embarrassment of a loss for the Panthers: charlotteobserver.com/sports…

“I’ve never been a part of a half of football like that.” Canales on the first half.

Taylor Moton will be out “a while” with multiple injuries.

Bryce Young gets picked off again - his third turnover of the game. For a variety of reasons, that needs to be his last snap of this game.

Time for Kenny Pickett. This one is done.

Halftime for Kuechly celebration - at least something going right for Panthers

Not exactly the best timing for the Luke celebration, as Panthers get booed off the field.

I covered the Hornets losing by 47 Friday night and figured I had had my fill of Charlotte fans booing the home team. But Panthers fans are going that way, too, as CAR turns the ball over for the third time in first half on Bryce Young INT. Tampa Bay up 26-6, looking for more.

A wild game continues, as Waller catches a 50-yard TD pass, only for extra point to get blocked and Bucs to return it for 2 points going the other way. Now 19-6, Tampa Bay.

Panthers have had equal-opportunity errors so far on all 3 units: Defense allowed a first-drive TD. ST had a muffed punt by David Moore; gave Bucs 3 points. Offense just gave up a horrible strip-sack/TD from Young. Bucs are up 17-0 with 11:05 still to go in 2nd Q.

Panthers getting smoked, as a strip sack results in Young's first fumble of the year, and it goes for a TD for Tampa Bay. Catastrophic for Carolina, and Bucs are now up 17-0.

Everything going wrong for Panthers early. After allowing a long TD drive, make a stop on 2nd possession, only for normally sure-handed David Moore to botch a fair catch and fumble ball. Tampa Bay, up 7-0 already, takes over at Carolina 18.

One of the most beautiful college football venues in America.
