So now the international Oscar has been won by Son of Saul, a Holocaust movie shot entirely in closeup, and The Zone of Interest, one shot without a single closeup.
Congrats to @cordjefferson, whose win at the Scripter Awards tonight lifts him out of the roster of Scripter losers (James Joyce, Malcolm X, Tolstoy, Tolkien, Pynchon, Shakespeare...) to join winners like Jane Austen, Cormac McCarthy & Louisa May Alcott. thewrap.com/wins-scripter-aw…

Bruce Springsteen, Hyde Park, July 6: A pretty moving (and very rocking) meditation on aging and death disguised as a greatest hits stadium-rock show.
RIP Nick Coster. A soap star who also did theater with Elizabeth Taylor, was in All the President's Men and Reds, and said "my wife, I think I'll keep her" in that cringey Geritol commercial. And a lovely guy. thewrap.com/nicolas-coster-s…
The red drapes hanging on either side of the grand staircase leading into the Oscars do a nifty job of hiding the pillars that contain the names of past Best Picture winners. (And the spot where this year's winner will go.)
Oscar had better hope it stops raining by Sunday. Because at the moment the not-red carpet is covered with buckets to catch the leaks.
So far, two films are dominating at the #BAFTAs: The Banshees of Inisherin & All Quiet on the Western Front

Nikki Finke, strangely enough, was the most fawning, obsequious interviewer I ever encountered. Interviewing me for my Oscar book in 2005, she regularly interrupted me by saying, “Oh, you’re delightful!” And then she asked me to repeat what I said so she could write it down. 1/3
Later, of course, she told the L.A. Times that I was out to get her because she didn’t think my book was worthy of coverage (this after I reported that her “scoops” about the Oscar show were dead wrong). Then she called me “a piece of shit” when I went to work for @TheWrap. 2/3
I think T Bone Burnett and @VerveRecords are messing with us. The labels on his new album say 33 1/3, as you’d expect, but you actually have to play it at 45. (It’s good at 45. Not so much at 33.)
I wrote this 6 years ago when Vin Scully retired. Sadly, I made a couple of revisions tonight. thewrap.com/vin-scully-goodb…
I heard that Bob Neuwirth died as I was walking toward the Palais in Cannes. They were playing Like a Rolling Stone on the red carpet — one of hundreds of great songs that would have felt connected to the great Neuwirth.
One advantage of being stranded at LAX dealing with @Delta customer service is that if they ever actually get me to Cannes, the festival's screwed-up ticketing system will seem efficient.
Tonight at @tcm film festival, I’ll learn if seeing E.T. at the Chinese Theatre in 2022 can possibly top seeing it in Times Square in 1982 with @rickspringfield while on assignment for Rolling Stone.
