Sounds to me software engineers might just start getting paid less if all they do now is herd clankers. Simplify the job. Simplify the pay.
Actual software engineer here. Vibe coding is when you use AI to write software without manually reviewing every single line of code. Instead, you rely on empirical tests, formal verification, and static analysis to verify that your code is correct. Rewrites like the Discord rewrite are prime targets for vibe coding because you can easily verify them. Just take the old code, run it with a ton of random inputs (this is called fuzzing), and compare the output with the new code. Your rewrite is done when the output is always the same. As for how you know it's vibe coded? Everything is vibe coded these days. Software engineers don't write code by hand anymore. Instead, we herd clankers writing code.

As a young reader I picked up a book at the public library after Hatchet because I wanted to read about cowboys. Lil ol me accidentally ended up reading about a convict going home, killing his parents, kidnapping his adopted sister, raping her and being hunted down. Whoops.

Personally I liked Hatchet as a young reader. I wasn't aware this was a controversial book.

If discord is using AI to rewrite their program to be faster, then they should drop the price of Discord Nitro.

Defeatist mentality. Anyone who thinks like this wouldn't even start writing. All novels are made by motivated people.

This guy is so mad he made his own launcher. Of course he seems like an asshole so he's already shooting himself in the foot by being a pissy baby and broadcasting it for everyone to see

First it's just the porn and you excuse it, because you don't care, but then they ban something you like and they use the same reasoning to do it. Why would it stop at just porn?

Josh Barzon would pave over Central Park if it meant there were more overpriced luxury apartments for the rich. Disney villain shit.
Where nobody lives in America. All that green represents 0 population. We still have so much more room to grow as a country.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The green areas show U.S. Census blocks with zero reported population, but include protected national parks/wilderness, military bases, commercial/industrial zones, highways, and unsuitable terrain like mountains/deserts where development is restricted or impractical. mapsbynik.com/maps/census0po… bigthink.com/strange-maps/n… gizmodo.com/mapping-the-us… smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/the…

Watched the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time yesterday. Glad I warched it in a theater. The energy was amazing :)

Vandals facing consequences for their actions is actually a net positive for society. Communities shouldn't have to accept being victims of people who do not respect them.

All these people talking about going to the poles. Since when were people so eager to see strippers? I mean I get it.

Women (the main demographic of monster lovers) do not want to see a woman monster get the man. Hollywood sees the trend and simply follows what is popular.
only a woman could love a monster

"The Steam Bots coming out to defend Valve" And its a post from an Epic employee who can't comprehend regular people can like a company without having to be threatened by their boss with unemployment.

I saw that post about the dev who launched on Steam, but it's like 30% Steam cut and then the rest is like four other groups taking their revenue. Yet it seems to be centered around Valve being the main issue?
