Finally, #SydArchFest would not be possible without our extraordinary crew of Volunteers who always make it look so easy - they care so much about architecture, and it shows! Thank you!
You may have caught some glimpses already of #SydArchFest beamed live to your office last week, all thanks to @BECnetwork - they continue to support us and we're so glad they do!

Karakusevic Carson - I see here those timeless Vitruvian qualities - stability, utility, beauty. #affordablehousing worth every cent (and more) if it produces such generosity in its architectural expression as much as its accomodation #architecture #citiesforpeople #sydarchfest

Paul Karakusevic on Bacton Estate 'we were called up one morning, asked to attend a project interview that evening, four other architects were also invited but didn't turn up - clearly they thought the client was crazy. We won the job' #Architect as optomist! #affordablehousing

UK architect #PaulKarakusevic does a high speed run through of the history of public housing in England. Fabulous early works 1850-1900, then post-WW2 some remarkable statistics on the sheer quantity of public housing built - remarkably around 200 000 per year

Paul launches energetically into his work - he has possibly been to the most @sydarchfest events of anyone this week (!) and his third and final talk this week is already deeply interesting - contextualised, informed, and precise

Architect Timothy Hill, with typical cut through, says inter alia “Australia does not have a housing policy, it has a tax policy that produces junk” & that most countries deliberately do not “build housing in the ‘Australian Way’”
Take a read - @sydarchfest
We are there - the finale of @sydarchfest, the culmination of a week of diverse, deeply informed and shared discussions on #affordablehousing.
