Didn’t mean this to be a multi-day thing. And then my bosses made that beautiful announcement. So this is here to explain how I came to be a sportswriter, why I was so lucky to be at @sportingnews and why it feels right to step back. And to thank you! ❤️ sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-bas…

Carolina - who is 2-for-10 on the season going for 2 - just did the idiotic “let’s go for 2 to make it a 6-point game” thing because, well just because. Now if they score again, they HAVE to go for two just to tie. Analytics brilliance!!!

As I said at the time, just massively full of it. Great work.
Last month, Kirk Herbstreit said he doesn't follow politics or pick sides. Which was nonsense. Just last week, Herbstreit quietly headlined a fundraising dinner for Alabama's second-biggest PAC. The next day, it sent $155,000 to Tommy Tuberville. foiaball.com/p/kirk-herbstre…

As a former collegiate athlete, I genuinely hope this significant shift for college soccer moves forward. College soccer is uniquely placed and could become the leading U23 league globally. The opposition ignores untapped revenue and sponsorship that have been limited for years. Beyond clear benefits for players—such as fewer missed classes, more recovery time, and a longer, more meaningful schedule—college facilities often match or surpass those of professional teams worldwide. When combined with a top-tier education, it’s offering is unmatched and could become an even more important part of the US Soccer development path. Soccer differs from the sports that presidents appear to fear, so while some concerns may be valid for certain universities, most would gain greatly and, I believe, unlock one of the most undervalued assets in our country’s soccer landscape. It’s so close. Let’s get it over the line.
Men's college soccer celebrated its move to a fall-spring season. But behind the scenes, there's a strong push to block it. ~150 schools have submitted rescission votes. The NCAA D-1 board will discuss today. News + explainer, free to read @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/7726710…
