The 2026 Subaru Outback Touring XT stickered at $49,840 and gets 24 mpg, well behind a CR-V Hybrid. But it tows 3,500 pounds, more than triple the Honda, and its new infotainment finally works.

A buyer must choose a 2018 Honda CR-V with 30,000 miles or a 2023 with 65,000 for $1,000 more. Owners point to the 2018’s non-turbo engine, and the mileage math favors it too.

Honda’s All-New 2028 CR-V Is Coming by Spring 2027, and It May Go Hybrid-Only Like the RAV4

The 2028 Honda CR-V is a full redesign due by spring 2027, with a new look and cabin. The biggest question is whether Honda goes hybrid-only to match the RAV4, and here is what we know.

What do Honda CR-V Hybrid owners upgrade to next? Some would never leave, one plans to sell at 10 years over the head gasket and buy a Camry Hybrid, and others want a Lexus, Rivian R2, or Scout.

The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid’s MPG is 31 combined with AWD, saving about $745 a year over the gas version. I drove it and its Palisade Hybrid twin within weeks, and the Hyundai wins on knobs.

My 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser stickered at $75,789. The cheaper 1958 trim keeps the same 326 HP hybrid, full time 4WD, and 6,000 pound towing for about $17,000 less. Here is what you give up..

Hyundai’s 2027 Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy gets 30 mpg, about $600 a year cheaper to fuel than a Honda Pilot. It is smooth and quiet, but at my size the third row was for kids only.

Ford's 2026 Ranger Raptor stickered at $62,430 with 405 HP, less than a 326 HP Tacoma TRD Pro. But the Toyota hybrid’s better mpg could erase that price gap in under four years.

Ram’s 2027 TRX SRT stickered at $110,405 and gets 12 mpg combined, enough to make anyone wince. But after driving its 777 HP supercharged Hemi V8, I can see why people want one anyway.

Ford’s 2026 Explorer Tremor stickered at $63,910 with the 400 HP V6, and it rides as smoothly as any Explorer. But the cheaper 4 cylinder Tremor tows the same 5,000 pounds and gets better mpg.

I wanted to love the 2026 Genesis G70 3.3T, a 365 HP twin turbo V6 sport sedan that may be the last of its kind. I mostly did, but outdated tech and a cramped cabin kept taking away some of the fun.
